New 3-D Version of Nightmare Before Christmas!?!

My boyfriend just heard on the radio that there is a preview being shown of a new 3-D NBC movie coming out in October. Apparently, it is the same exact movie but redone in 3-D.

Anybody hear about this? They really kept this one quiet!

Heard about it, but only recently. I believe that it is supposed to be released into theatres in early October (the 9th?).

It using the same Dolby Digital 3D System they used to convert Chicken Little to 3D. I don't think you will be seeing it in 3D unless the theater is equipped with DLP Digital Projection.

Does the AMC at Pleasure Island have a digital theater?

I just hate it when they call the technology as if they're theirs

"Disney Digital 3D" when the technology is actually called Dolby Digital 3-D
or
"Disney DVD" when the technology itself is called, you know... DVD.

I've heard there are actually a couple different technologies that will be marketed under many, many different brand names. One converts CGI films into 3-D using the underlying "code" that created the movie in the first place.

The second is a technology that can convert any film into 3D through manpulation of the movie after it has been scanned. There have been rumors around for about a year that Geroge Lucas is working on 3D versions of the real Star Wars trilogies (Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) to release when he needs to juice up toy sales again. I had also heard that there was supposed to be a special version of this summer's Superman Returns released with some segements in 3D, but I never saw that advirtised anywhere.

If the technology is cost effective, expect several movies to be "3D'd" as theaters try to figure out ways to get you away from your DVD player.

They only showed those at 3-d Imax theaters. I saw the "3-d" version of Superman returns in Charleston SC. Complete waste of time and money if you ask me...both Superman Returns and the 3-d part of it. Movie sucked.... huge plot holes that would make Lucas think he could write a better story, bad acting, and the story was just a rehash of everything they had done before with Superman. (Except now he was a deadbeat dad and a spying pervert) The 3-d parts were more annoying then anything else.

So far, the movies being digitally shown in the theatres are the simulated 3D such as Chicken Litlle, Superman and Monster House. That technology was created by C3D and originally marketed for the home market (failed due to price restriction and the use of field sequential system, rendering it useless for high-end hometheatre market that uses Progressive Scan displays) and now the company is owned by Dolby Labs and being marketed as Dolby Digital 3D.

This is the absolute cheapest because to render a 1 hour movie it only takes an extra hour. To render 2 hour movie, it takes an extra 2 hours; basically like playing back the moview twice. The first run to analyze the scenes, the second run to output the resulting scenes.

I believe that was in the IMAX version of the film. I think.
