New “Music of Pixar Live!” Show Coming to Hollywood Studios this Summer-FPs Now Available

Now, and most of you know my love for Star Wars, how many here would think that having this exact set up, orchestra, characters coming out, short video of the composers and music makers,45 minute show, but instead of Pixar with Star Wars would get a better reaction?

I think they should've incorporated Star Wars into the show. Everyone would love to hear the main theme song played and see characters come out. Would just need a name change due to Star Wars not being Pixar though

And just to add, "Hundreds" of people are not leaving the arena every show. Handfuls of families yes..I'd put it around 15-30 people periodically for an estimate.

But majority of the theater is not just getting up and walking out. Hundreds leaving is a far exaggeration

I've only seen the show once and I agree, I think I saw about 50 people in total leaving during various moments of the show, the most were right before the sing along song

I feel that SW music is a bigger character in the movies than Pixar music. Yes you can instantly recognize the Up theme just by a couple of notes not necessarily said about all the other music...in SW you have so many themes that are instantly recognizable

Yea. I think they should add Star Wars in the mix. Could add the Indiana Jones theme too.

I like how the orchestra set the mood for the scene..but aside from the more popular ones they played, I didn't recall majority of those scores

From the website:
  • If dining before the concert, you will receive your voucher for The Music of Pixar Live! and Fantasmic! reserved seating at the restaurant.
  • If dining after the concert, pick up your voucher for The Music of Pixar Live! and Fantasmic! reserved seating at Theater of the Stars. Enter through the dining package entrance at the front of the theater and check in with the Cast Member to receive the voucher.
So, just go the theater and they'll check magic bands or have a list.
Thank you. I'm so excited.

FP: They are available now - we just got ours for the end of June.
I'm thinking I should be fine picking up a day of FP+ for this on a Saturday after my 3 other FP+ are used up in HS by noon. Am I delusional?

How did people get a reservation for both fantasmic and music of pixar? We have H&V F but not pixar...

Also what time would i need to get in line for 6:45 for standby....would like to get both like others but incase I can't

I believe there are 3 packages available; Fantasmic by itself, Pixar by itself and then both. You have to request the appropriate package when you reserve. I think calling is the only option for the combo; you can't book online.

ETA: I would not book the 3rd Pixar show if you are doing Fantasmic. On the day we booked, the 3rd Pixar show is at 8:15pm and Fantasmic is at 9. Castmember booking us kept insisting it would be fine, but given that Pixar is a 45 minute show, it's not really possible to make it to both. We had to really push to get the 2nd show.

It's an all in one reservation. Info on page 1 of this thread

Thank you!!! How long before the show should we get into line for standby seats?

I booked the dining package with the second concert show and the Fantasmic. I figured 6:45pm would give us enough time to go back to our resort for mid day break after the lunch, recharge, and get some rest. Around 6 we would start heading back to enjoy the concert, after that a ride and maybe have dessert, then it will be tome for Fantasmic. I love Pixar music I own many of their movie soundtrack CDs I am excited to be able to experience the live concert.

We were at the first show Friday at 5 pm. DH and I along with the 2 teen (band) girls really enjoyed it. Three year old DS was not quite as impressed - just poor timing and he missed his nap so he was extra squiggly. The movie sequences did not keep him engaged enough.

I did think a couple of the selections were a bit lengthy but the orchestra was phenomenal. Many times I forgot it was a live performance! We had the dining package (Mama Melrose) and got there about 10 minutes early. Sat in the front middle section about 10'ish rows up - very happy with the location because we were running a bit later than I wanted.

I don't recall seeing many people leaving - maybe a few trying to beat the crowds out st the end. Overall, we liked it and would do it again, but might split up and do something different with DS. It was well performed and fun - something different for sure. And seeing Carl was icing on the cake.

i've been wondering whether the 2 and 3 year old will survive this...except that both of them go crazy over music...whether with words or not..
i guess we'll just have to see how it goes...perhaps we'll be part of the 50 people walking out... :)

i just called disney dining an hour ago and managed to get a combination reservation...
last time i called, they didn't have any combination openings, but this time they did..
we have a 6:20 pm reservation at hollywood and vine, and the first pixar concert at 5:00 pm and the 9:00 fantasmic..

i'm thrilled that with 1 disney dining credit, we'll get a character meal, fantasmic (assuming no rain) and the concert.....nice!

I have a dining package booked, but I'm thinking of cancelling and trying to get a FP later in the day.
I am in the same boat. I have picked up Fantasmic! multiple times day of. I realize this show holds a lot less, but there are 3 viewings and someone booking this in advance would block out any chance of a tier 1 prior to 5pm. I think the chances seem pretty good.

that's not true in this case....we go to the show BEFORE we eat dinner....
so they have to know somehow...
We did this on opening day May 26. We saw the 5PM show and had 6:20PM dining ADR at Mama Melrose. We arrived at the theater at 4:50 and were directed to the reserved seating line. We told the person there we had a dining res after the show and they checked our ADR and names and gave us tickets.

After the show we went to Mama Melrose to dine. Somewhere in there they had our credit card info and I am sure would just charge us if we did not show up.

:wizard:

Because of FPs and reservations for the SW dessert party, the third showing of Pixar Friends won't work for us....but that's all I keep getting when I try for a dining reservation, lol! I've tried with a variety of dining times, but it's always the third show that I'm offered. Is there some trick to getting the first or second show?

TIA!

Quite true! But, there are better Pixar themes than what's been chosen here. I'm a big live music person. Listening to the selections via youtube were not the ones I would have picked. There are some really sweet songs in Toy Story that represent the characters better. One of the best is Jessie's song where her owner puts her down. They did pick my favorite in Up though.

But, the comparison is fair; SW music is much more operatic. Pixar music is more background; you almost don't notice it -- but, it's important in setting the mood. I'm having a tough time convincing my DW that this is something she should see. My current agreement: I see B&B with her; she has to see PML with me!
