New….. Airport Luggage Transfer (formerly Resort Airline Check In) Trial at Disney Value Resorts/Southwest Airlines

I really hope this program expands to more airlines and more hotels in 2026!
I wonder if the occupancy rates aren't as low for deluxe as they are for value.... Remember low occup rates were the reason this was originally introduced decades back. They began offering it to bring overall rates back tinto the 80% range

Ah yes they have, and the article lists them as:

The list of participating resorts is as follows:
  • Disney’s All-Star Movies, Music, and Sports Resorts
  • Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
  • Disney’s Pop Century Resort
We will have more details, and the confirmation when the inbound luggage service launches tomorrow, November 13 to make your reservation between 30 and 5 days before arrival.

Darn, I was hoping that with this announcement they were expanding to more resorts. I almost always fly SW, but I'm not staying at any of these.

It is now official this morning Disney has confirmed this is the same list as before but now adding SW luggage service for travelers heading to WDW.

Fill out the registration form for the Airport Luggage Transfer at Disney service anytime from 30 days to 5 days prior to your departure flight. You will need your Disney Resort confirmation number and your Southwest Airlines confirmation number when you register. You will receive a confirmation email after registering.

It’s still in testing. At values they are getting the most guests possible for the least amount of resort infrastructure outlay. Even if the values had an occupancy problem there are more folks there than at deluxe hotels.

As a non-WN flier I’m not happy they have expanded the other end of the journey instead of more airlines and/or hotels but I guess at least it’s some movement in a positive direction. And for all I know expansion on the departure end might not even have been on the table if they couldn’t prove to Disney they can handle the arrival end…

Yes they want to test the full process including getting Guests to register in advance. I expect it will expand once they have the full loop running at the Values. As a reminder they have only been running this pilot test since March 31, 2025.

Ahh, That actually might be the reason.... You can test capacity and constraints much easier with Value resorts. When we rode the Magical Express, I remember the buses not being filled for deluxe resorts even after they began combining certain deluxe resorts for each bus. Value resorts may have used this service the most, so that makes sense.

Yes,it seems like they like to roll out new programs at the Values first-the Activities Program that all Resorts now have was tested first at All-Star Music.

I am flying from Atlanta on Southwest December 1st and staying at Pop Century. I was excited to try the new bag transfer but unfortunately I got a message that my flight was not eligible.

Are you on a direct SW flight to MCO or do you need to change planes with a change in Flight numbers?
