best buy will downright haggle on prices. we needed to replace our tv and researched the price range on the models we were interested in then went to our local best buy. started out (intentionally) looking at less expensive models with the sales person and 'let him' talk us into looking at the ones we were really interested in. when he thought we were hooked I told dh that we should just wait and see if one of the competitors was going to have a better deal in the next couple of weeks. salesman talked up the price match guarantee but I said I didn't want to hassle with that and with gas prices it wasn't worth it for me to run back and forth to take care of it after the fact. result, despite the tv being at a very good sales price we negotiated another 10% off. dh during this point started looking at higher end blue ray players and started expressing an interest, I played meanie and said 'we only came in to get a tv, if you feel we need that we need to just walk away and wait until we have the funds'. salesman offered to reduce the cost of the blue ray (not on sale at the time) by about 30%. I replied that I couldn't see the sense of getting a blue ray right now since we had no discs. and I wasn't going to put out another chunk on those. salesman offered us 2 discs of our choice for free. I agreed to the deal.
capper was when we went to do the deal at the register and the guy started talking up the calibration that 'is really needed to set up a tv of that quality'. I said I was over it and all the additional costs we hadn't planned on and started to walk out. salesman stops me, talks to 'the manager' and calibration is thrown in free

I worked in an electronics store when I was younger, there's HUGE wiggle room for sales staff to work with and often individual companies are offering sales staff cash bonuses on every one of their products they move out the door (so they may lose a bit on their commission, but if they are getting a flat $50 bonus for getting me to buy company x vs. company y they still end up ahead).
