Never challenge a DISer to find a deal--a Nov/Dec PTR 11/26: Today's the day!!!

Subbing! Your children are ADORABLE!! I need to go back and catch up on all your plans! Looks like we will just miss eachother!

:welcome: Thanks for the compliments on the kiddos! I think they are pretty adorable too. I was bummed when I saw close our trips were to each other and we are still missing each other!

WHAT????????:scared1: 2 unplanned days?????????:scared1:

I would be all over my computer till I had those days planned. Next year we are doing the QSDP so that I don't have to plan our days, but we all know that won't happen :confused3

That was part of the deal of this trip. DH wanted one no park day. I knew it was the only way I was getting to Disney so I agreed. On our second no plans day we do have 2 ADRs, so it won't be a completely lost day. I do like to know which parks we'll be at which days mostly because I am a TGM junkie!

Mop, have you seen the new build-your-own remote control car store in DTD? I bet your boys would go nuts over it!

No, I have not! Off to do some more research!! They would most definitely go nuts over that. Time to start scheming on how best to incorporate this into a Christmas present!

That sounds so cool. Where is it in DTD?

It looks like it's over on the West Side. One report I read said it was in the old Virgin Records store. Here's more about it from the Disney World website:

This supercharged interactive experience lets kids of all ages dream up, build and customize their very own radio controlled car or truck. Pick a vehicle body, chassis, wheels and tires and accessories like a spoiler. Use the in-store workbench to assemble your ride and take your creation for a spin on the store's test track.

Before you start building, look for inspiration in the Ridemakerz® auto salon, where you can check out 8 different world-class show cars, like the Chevrolet Corvette C5-R race car built by Pratt & Miller Engineering. Other cool rides include a Ford F-150 NASCAR® Pace Truck, a Dodge Ram from the personal collection of legendary car customizer Chip Foose and a totally tricked out MINI Cooper owned by movie car designer Fireball Tim Lawrence.

Choose from dozens of real world makes and models like Ford Mustangs, Dodge Vipers and Chevy Corvettes. From hot-rods and pick-up trucks to sport coupes and concept cars, there are dozens of body styles in a rainbow of colors.

Unleash your inner customizer with hundreds of accessories, Decalz, Side Pipez, Blown-Out Enginez, Spoilerz and Tail Pipez. Satisfy your need for speed with over 649 million ways to create a one-of-a-kind mean machine.

Now open through Fall 2010!

That fall 2010 part scares me! :( Say it isn't so!

In the DVC magazine that JUST came this week it has a mini-article about the Ridemakerz store, so I'm thinking it might be lasting longer than expected. It can be pretty pricey from what I have seen, but also a boys dream come true!!!

Thanks for the additional info Brook! If it's pricey, it would have to be tied into Christmas somehow. I think getting a present 3 weeks before Christmas (and thus getting fewer presents on xmas morning) may not work out so well.

My name is Margaret and I have an addiction

I hope I am the only one here who suffers from this. Like all addictions, it started out as no big deal, but it has started to snowball.

My addiction is -- logging onto the online ADR site and making random changes to our ADRs. It started out that I would just log on to look now and then, you know for fun to see what was open while we were there. Then I started getting the itch to add these new places on. You wouldn't believe some of the justifications I came up with for the changes. So, here's the latest on the ADRs.

The first big change I made was to drop Hoop Dee Doo. I really want to go. I think the show would be a lot of fun. I know Doug and Liam would love it too. The other two are far more wild cards. Ryan is the type of parent who gets very stressed out about the possibility of the kids misbehaving. You should see him at church on Sundays when Aileen is not in the nursery, every squeak sends him over the edge. I know he'd go into the show apprehensive that she would not cooperate. And then there's the Aileen factor. The girl does not enjoy the highchair. Since food comes out family style, I know she'd be happy as long as she was eating, but once the meal was over, it could get iffy. So, I canceled. I'm bummed, but there's always next time right?

For a while now, I had been thinking if I was going to drop HDDR, I wanted to add Whispering Canyon in its place. Each day in my random ADR search, I'd look to see what their open times were. On our "off" day, they had a 1:00 and a 9:30. Neither of which was going to work for our family. After about 2 weeks of my stalking, I landed a 5:25 ADR at Whispering Canyon Cafe. I knew WL was one of the resorts I really wanted to see all decked out for Christmas and with the boatride over there, it just seemed too easy! After dinner, I am pondering heading over to FtW for the movie and/or Chip n Dale but that is getting ahead of myself.

To take my addiction a step further, right around when CP packages were released people were talking about trying to get into LeCellier. We ate there on a previous trip and while we liked it, we didn't find it to be all that. When I saw they were making it a 2 credit meal, I was like well we're not going to eat there again. On a whim, I put in the date for one of our Epcot days and what popped up? LeCellier lunch! Well, the meal is a such a hot commodity and we did like it, so I snapped it up! Of course, we've got it planned on the same day we are doing Via Napoli for dinner and that looks so good too! So here's my mental game I am playing... LeCellier lunches are going to be harder to come by as time goes on due the 2 credit dinners. But Via Napoli will be there and be 2 credits for a long time.

So I still have 9 TS meals with 7 TS Credits to use. Something (or somethings) have got to go. Hopefully, when I give the boot I can fight my addiction to start looking for something else!

Hello...my name is Jill and I am addicted to the online ADR system to constantly change my ADRs. You're not alone Margaret!  Like you it just started out looking at what I've already got...just to make sure everything is still there, then thinking about the times of some of the ADRS I have and wondering if I could get an earlier time. Even when I couldn't find anything I would find myself being drawn back in a couple of days later...just to check. I'm trying to keep from making anymore changes. Ya'll pray for me!

Ryan is the type of parent who gets very stressed out about the possibility of the kids misbehaving.

Clay is the type of parent that gets stressed out when Hannah misbehaves. It drives me nuts. Sometimes I get stressed out if it's just me and Hannah and she's not listening to me, but not all the time like he does. And when she comes home from school and has a letter on her behavior card...good grief! You'd think the child had committed a terrible crime! We definitely have different approaches on this.

Glad to know I am not the only one suffering from this! It's funny, before there were online ADRs, I might wonder but I never would have made changes. I'd just go with the flow. Now it's all too tempting! I'll pray for you if you pray for me! ;)

It is so hard to co-parent! I mean, I'd never want to do it alone but I spend as much time worrying about Ryan being worried when we are in public as I do being concerned about the kids. But, then I remind myself it's better to making sure they are not out of line than letting them run around like crazy people!

You are not alone!! I am OBSESSED with the online ADR thing! I hate it! Last year I never once called to change any of my ADRs, but now that I can see them and change them with the click of a mouse I obsess over it! I have entirely way too many ADRs for everyday of my trip, but I'm having trouble letting some of them go!:rotfl:

Hello, my name is Erin and I am addicted to other people logging into the ADR system and making changes because am still too far out to make them myself! :surfweb:
I think you did the right thing with HDDR. That show is not going anywhere. It costs too darn much to not enjoy every minute of it. Next trip, baby.
WCC is a great alternative and 5:25 is perfect. There will be a photopass photog out who will take a few shots by the bridge and tree so check that out. We stayed thee for 8 days and never made it over to the campsite for the movie so I would see how you feel.

And my Tom is the same way about our kids at church and restaurants which is why despite really really wanting LeCellier for lunch for our trip I think we are going to skip it. I know that kids probably go nuts in there all the time but Tom would probably think it is a super nice, dark and fancy place and any little peep out of our youngins would send his BP skyhigh and it just wouldn't be enjoyable.

I wonder how much of a problem the online ADRs has been for Disney with all of us constantly moving things around (oh and holding on to ressies "just in case I change my mind"). If we are all doing it, I know there has to be more!! Have you started logging and saying ... "If I were traveling this week, could I get all of my ADRs?" That's another level of sickness that I really know nothing about. I swear. :rotfl:

You are so right. For 2 credits, I cannot sit by and watch the hubby stress or be walking the baby around because she cannot sit still. We had a rough dinner the last time we went to WCC so it's time to redeem ourselves. Plus, I've always wanted to see the Lodge at Christmas and this ensures us that we will get there. If we hadn't gotten this ADR I am pretty sure we would have missed it. I had no idea there was PP photographer there! Since we are doing a PP share, I am all about trying to get as many photos as we can.

I've got an internet buddy from a parenting message board that's staying at Ft.W that weekend so that's part of the reason I am hoping to get there. With kids everything is a crapshoot until you are there of course!

I wonder if it's a dad thing? Ryan pretty much said the same thing when I mentioned a Le Cellier lunch to him.

You are preaching to the choir here! I love making ADRs but I hate canceling them!

Well, I'm tempted to make ADRs for a trip we don't even have on the books yet! :rotfl: Ever do that one???!

But, I'm resisting because I don't know where we will end up - and some of my ADRs change based on where our resort will be.

But some are park ones...:scratchin What is that URL again? ;)

If I said I made ADRs when the online dining site opened, would that be a yes? :upsidedow I was just doing it for informational purposes of course.

When are you thinking of a next trip? What resorts are you debating between? Even if I won't be planning another trip for a long time... I can live vicariously through my friends with APs and DVC!

Trying desperately to catch up with my DIS-Friends!!

On her "month birthdays" I took a photo of her sitting in the rocker in her bedroom. Here is how I displayed the monthly photos I took of her. Those are the outfits she was wearing in each pic:

I absolutely LOVE your idea! :lovestruc (Why can't I think of stuff like that?)

Aileen is truly precious... and she looks adorable in her special outfit!

My "baby girl" just started high school and I tell 'ya, I really miss those baby days!

Eat her up!

Another ADR addict here. DD has told me she really doesn't even WANT to eat at the Castle....and yet I find myself constantly going on the site and checking to see if I can get in! :surfweb: What is THAT about? I'll tell you what it's about....there's a little thrill when I actually GET an ADR, especially one that's hard to get...or perhaps we could call it a "high" . Even when I don't even WANT the ADR. Then, I'm like you, canceling it is PAINFUL.

Maybe we should form an ADRA group (ADR's Anonymous). *sigh*

:rotfl2: If you're looking for an Intervention, you're in the wrong place!

I am sorry to see HDDR go "bye-bye", but there is always time for that when the kids are older. (Way to rationalize a future trip, Kathy!) :thumbsup2

Sounds like you made the right decision, though. Ed is very much like Ryan... always very tense about the kids' behavior in public... so I know that the potential for stress is very real for you and the rest of the family and the plans could backfire easily. And who needs that?

Best to go with the safer bets when kids are small!

I actually did that last March. I was about 90% certain that we wouldn't be able to go again for my birthday and my son's birthday. We had done it the previous year. But I found myself still making two dining reservations. I was good and cancelled them early on, as soon as I knew 100% we weren't going.

But I have to join the group....I'm an addict to the online ADR system. I love it. I find myself changing things around all the time. Even more so once UG came out with crowd levels per park. Then I changed plans on days and on ADR's. And I'm always checking for a better time for this ADR or that ADR. So admitting you have a problem is step one right? What do we do now?

You hit the nail on the head Poppy! I've got that LeCellier ressie in my back pocket that I am sure someone is wanting for December, but it's mine. And boy was it a high to book well after the 6 month mark!

"Hi my name is Margaret. I'm new to ADRA. It's been two weeks since my last online reservations change."

I like the way you rationalize! Even if do not go until we are paying for Aileen's food, we it'll be better for all of us! And that's my big motto is parenting "You have to do what's best for the family unit." I figure that everyone is loud at Whispering Canyon and there's not a dinner plus a show, so Aileen will do well.

I'd rather have bank on that 10% chance you are going than get there and not be able to celebrate in your favorite spots! It's just all too easy to make the changes! It's awful when the touring plans change and then you find yourself scrambling...

I'm glad I am not nan ADR addict. I picked my spots, and haven't changed much. I went nuts at first, but then went back and cancelled some since I wasn't sure where we would be at some times.

I checked out the Ridemakerz website, if that store is in DTD, I might have to hang out in there for a little while.
