I just purchased 200 points at SSR. It looks beautiful in the pictures and video, but I've never been there....actually, I've never even visited Walt Diney World, though I've visited Disneyland countless times (I live in Northern California).

When is the best time to visit? I have a daughter going into the 8th in September, but we would be willing to let my daughter miss a few days of school to miss the corwds...OK, I'm more willing than my wife about that....but having good weather and small crowds would be great.

Any thoughts appreciated!

YAAAAY! HANNAME! WELCOME HOME!
That's the exact number of points we have (so far) ;)
and SSR is our Home sweet home. It is my understanding that september crowds are low but the weather is very hot. rainy and humid. Some say that the 1st week of December is good crowd wise and weather wise. My sister who lives in Orlando loves November weather. You might possibly inquire about the days right after the Thanksgiving holiday and right before. The Christmas decorations go up I believe on the 17th of November. January, I hear has low crowds but it is my undestanding that the weather can be quite cold sometimes. Hope this helps. :flower: Avoid MLK holiday in January and of course new years day. The points are lowest the first 2 weeks of December
all of January and all of September. 1st week in December is extremely popular with members so if you choose it, make your resses early enough to bookwhere youd like other wise it's off to the waitlist for you.

We also bought sight unseen and are so glad we did. SSR is so beautiful and relaxing especially after running around all day, coming home is just the best. It's my DH's favorite. I don't know if I'll be able to get him to stay anywhere else. At least with DVC it is a possibility. Enjoy your 1st trip! Savor it. It is such an awesome time.

Each time of year has it's advantages and disadvantages. I can only tell you that we've been going to WDW since 1975, and the overwhelming # of trips have been in September. NOT Labor Day weekend, of course, but each of the weeks after that. Weather is hot, but not as hot as mid-summer. Always a "chance" of T-Storms, but most times the local weather forecast is wrong and it does not rain. And if it does rain, it's over in a few minutes. I can count on one hand the # of "pure" rain out" days since 1975. And while hurricanes are always a possibility, we've been impacted only once by a hurricane--and that was up here in PA, not Florida!!
Crowds are "low" by WDW standards, but I have noticed an increase over the years as more and more folks discover Sept. is a perfect time to go.

Personally, I like the Xmas season. I normally stay offsite the week before Xmas and sometime during Xmas week. I understand that the weather is nice during the first couple weeks of December. It can be very nice when I go or a wie bit cold. Of course, the reason to go is the holiday decorations and spirit. Disney does it well!

My too favorite times are early December and early January. Since you are a Californian, those times of year might not be warm enough for you, but we love the low crowds and decor and cool temps then.

We also love going right after Thanksgiving. Seems very popular with DVCers so harder to get a room. Jan. is nice and quiet also.

We like the 1st week of May. The crowds are as low as it ever gets. The weather is warm. It's the end of the school year any way,and you use a low number of points. 2nd week of May is pushing it. After that we avoid going again until the 1st week of December.

Welcome home. See you there!

Welcome to the DIS and DVC!

Our favorite times to go are:

May - Low crowds, Flower and Garden Festival, beautiful weather

September - Very low crowds and warm weather

early December - Low crowds, Christmas decorations, comfortable weather & MVMCP

Our favorite times:

October/November - Food & Wine Fest, relatively low crowds, beautiful weather

May - about the first minute DS was out of school we used to go down about 3rd week of May. Many schools aren't out yet, Flower & Garden Fest on, great way to kick off vacation time

December or early January - only managed to pull this off once, but it was awesome!

Frankly there is no "bad" time, in my opinion!
