DH and I had some Southwest funds that were going to expire so just booked a trip to VB Oct 11-15 ! No kids, just us. Gardenview was the only availability, so that's where we'll be. Any one have pictures or advice on weather, activities, etc? There's not a lot of info for VB compared to the other resorts, so all info is very welcome;)

My husband and I spent a relaxing week at VB in March of 2007. Beautiful resort! We stayed in an ocean view room-would you want to waitlist? I think it's worth it to sit on the balcony in the morning with breakfast and in the evening with a glass of wine!
We had great weather-I bet you will, also-so we lazed on the beach or by the pool. We did spend a day at the Kennedy Space Center and we both enjoyed it very much-we ate at Squid Lips (we're both seafood lovers) and I'm sorry, I can't remember the other two-but I chose them based on the Fodor's guide and we were pleased. We also ate at the resort one night-we thought it was very nice, but I've read other posts recently where that was not the case. Have a wonderful trip! We're trying HH this year and then back to WDW in 2009, but would love to go back to VB! :)

First... No kids :cloud9: Have a great time.

There's a good bit of info.. It's just a little harder to find sometimes. Here is a garden view pic from the 4th floor.

We've been to VB three different times in October and it has been perfect every time. The weather has been great and we've enjoyed our trips there so much. We've never been without the kids - so that sounds wonderful!!!! We've never done activities (other than for the kids) so I can't comment on resort activities, but we've enjoyed having lunch on the porch at the Green Cabin Room, as well as some adult beverages there in the evenings. We've eaten at the Ocean Grille (maybe about 15-20 minutes from the resort) and had a very nice meal. Shopping in Vero Beach was something we did once and it went to the movies in town too! I'd love to go to VB every year, but then again, I'd love to go to HH every year and WDW too! I've never met a DVC I didn't like!

Thank you so much everyone. Rob, your pics and info were so helpful with giving me a feel for Vero. BTW.... CONGRATULATIONS for quitting smokingpixiedust: that is a truly difficult thing to do!

I would waitlist for the OVIR. I was there in June and waitlisted for a 1BR. It had an absolutely fabulous view of the ocean. The housekeeper told us it has one of the best views of all the villas. I know we will never be able to replicate that view again, so when I go in the future I will always request OVIR (2 rooms if I take me kids). I really think the view was the best part of the experience.

I did enjoy Vero alot. We went to the superwalmart and got what we needed for the stay. They will give you a map (at checkin) of the most popular places people visit (attractions and stores).

There is a really nice path/dirt road about a mile from the resort that you can run on (or rent bikes). I didn't find out about until my last day and wish I had known about it sooner. I really liked Vero and I know I will return.

The other thing I noticed was I didn't mind spending the money for the beach chairs/umbrella. The lounges were very comfortable and they made being at the beach a very relaxing experience for me.
