Never been to Disney! HELP!!

My husband and I decided last night to take our kids to Disney for the first time April 24-May 1. We have a 6 yr old son and 2 yr old twins. We found a great price to fly and now debating to stay at either Port Orleans French Quarter (1300 for the week) or All Star Sports ($800)

I welcome any advice or tips. I am a planner so this is truly out of character for me and I am a anxious.

Hi. Welcome to the board. In a matter of minutes, you will be totally addicted to these boards. With kids that young, I would stay at an all Star resort. But you will most likely hear from fans of both. Riverside and the French Quarter have a charm that the All Stars lack. If you will be a family on the go, visiting them parks, swimming, and not just being lazy at the resort, then I would definately go to the All Stars. Enjoy your trip, and welcome to the boards!!!

I don't think AS Sports will be an option since you are a family of 5. If you could go BEFORE the twins turn 2, then yes, go with As!!

My boy will turn 2 the end of June and we will be going in August. My dh, the aformentioned boy, his 2 big sisters and I will be staying at POR (FQ does not sleep 5). We saved on airfare this year, so it wasn't much more than last year! AS Music Family suites would have been MORE than POR.

We've stayed at both ASMo and ASMu and loved them. We had 5 at the ASMo and did 2 connecting rooms and it worked out great. Two TV's and two bathrooms with 5 one room its almost impossible at the AS hotels. My middle DS was about yours sons age during our stay and he loved Andy's room and all the HUGE characters on property.

Also, if your planning on characters meals we loved Chef Mickeys and Pooh's meal at Crystal Palace. (We've done both lunch and breakfast but like lunch much better).

Just read ..... read .... read .... these boards and you'll get TONS of information. I started here on for our first trip (oldest ds was 6 and he turns 15 next week) and was addicted from day one.

I would go with POR. The resort is a little nicer, a few more ammenities and the room is bigger. With 5 people I would want a bigger room. I have stayed at ASMo and when we had the pack n play for DS to sleep in, the room was cramped. Where will the 2 year olds sleep? If they need 2 cribs/pack n plays, then you really want a bigger room. I think it is a matter of personall opinion but I really think out of the All stars the Movies is the coolest and my kids did love the larger than life icons. Since your twins will be under 3 during your trip you can be in a POR room with the 5 of you. They are also free to get into the parks!! We have also stayed at POR and I think it is nicer than the values, JMHO. Either way you will be at WDW!! There is a ton of info on these boards so just read, read, read. It really makes a huge difference in planning your trip to know all the info that is provided here.

Oh, did you check the resorts codes board or mousesavers.com? I know there were a few codes that came out for discounts on the resorts for the end of April. You might be able to save some money! Check it out.

Hi there! We are first timers as well and will be there at the same time as you 4/25-5/1. We are booked ar POFQ. We were going to do Pop Century but decided to spend the extra $$ for a quieter, smaller resort. Good luck with your planning - you're gonna need it!

I would base my decision totally on my budget. If you have the funds for it, I'd go with POFQ. If you'd like to save a little money, go with All Stars. You really can't go wrong with any of the Disney resorts: all are clean and fun! The All sports is very brightly themed, your kids would probably love it.

You can have your twins in one room at All sports (or any of the resorts) as long as they are under the age of 3. I think someone in a previous post wrote that All Stars wouldn't allow you to all be in one room, but they will. We had 5 in a room at POP our last trip--Dh and I, plus our kids ages 4,4 and almost 3. It was a bit cramped, but worked fine.

We stayed at the AS Sports last trip and were happy there. We were only 4 though and very crowded into our room. They are not large here, so the other resort might be better in that respect. I might go for the more expensive resort and then maybe try to cut costs somewhere else if the additional $500 is an issue.

Don't forget to start making your Advanced Dinner Reservations (ADR's) now. You are a planner like me, so I am sure knowing when and where you are going to be eating will make it less stressful for you. Also you might want to consider the dining plan.

clownchk-- Did you know you actually can stay in POFQ or any of the resorts until your son turns THREE (not two)??!! All the resorts allow 4 in a room PLUS one so-called "infant" (child under the age of three).

That is what I thought but when I went to book on line the computers wouldn't let me Last year I was able to book ASMo (Really liked it there, even though we got the firthest room possible form the busses I am happy we decided to go with POR though. The "free" fridge and water slide pool may make it all worth while!

Unfortunately I can't comment on the All Stars resorts as we have only been once and we stayed at POFQ. The rooms would be a bit cramped for five of you and I am not sure if you can get a bigger room or family suite. I loved the atmosphere, the quaintness and peace of the POFQ, but there was only three of us, me, DH and DD4. But the POFQ is small compared to many other resorts so not a ton of walking etc... If you can get a good size room, go for the POFQ.

My advice is to book SOON or you will not have a choice. Value rooms tend to go faster than others and you really need to book NOW. We have never stay at POFQ but have stayed at ALL Stars. it was fine though I agree with three little ones it will be a little crowded. Between values we really like POP a lot better than All Stars. We found bus service to be ,much better !
