It was reported this week that Starz (who holds a lot of Disney movies in their programming library) and Netflix will soon be parting ways -- the deal also includes movies from Sony (Columbia Pictures).

Full details, here.

It doesn't take effect until February of next year and I think Netflix is really expanding their offerings. To be honest, most Disney people buy the movie anyway. I know I do. I don't really buy a lot of DVD's or Blu-Ray except for my Disney movies.

We're just the opposite as we don't buy any movies so this will be a big hit :sad2:.

I know. I hate that you can hardly get the Disney movies through streaming anyhow. We use netflix mainly for TV programming because they really don't have that many movies available online that interest us.

I was surprised as heck a few days ago when the kids were watching Tangled over Netflix streaming. And The Princess and the Frog. Figured no way would Disney let recent films like those be available on streaming already.

There were only 2 Disney movies available and they were both aimed for girls - so not a big hit for us. I'm surprised netflix still has some Disney tv programming.

this is sad...if starz leaves, netflix won't have any good movies! we may have to cancel our streaming subscription.

We don't have Cable so my children like to stream the Disney shows via Netflix. I know they'll miss those, we've gotten a lot of the Disney DVDs from them as well....ones that we didn't want to buy.

Toy story 3 and a lot of the Disney Channel Movies are on Netflix. :thumbsup2

Kind of ironic they raised the price and lost the content....even if it doesn't go into effect until February, this is a huge loss as far as streaming goes. I've gotten where I try the movie first before I buy it, not all Disney moviess are worth owning, imho.

What are you talking about :confused3?

I just looked and on the first page I saw: Tangled, Toy Story 3, Secretariat, Prince of Persia, The Other Side of Heaven, and Ponyo. All of which are Disney Movies.

The next few pages have the Santa Claus 2 and A Christmas Carol.

This is where netflix is going to loose me. If they are no longer with starz then I'm not going to keep the svs. I didn't mind the svs fee change. But if the programing isn't going to be what I want then I don't need them. As is so many choices on tv and free on the web why pay for them.
