Nervous about WDW and tickets...

A few weeks ago we booked our trip for our WDW trip for this December. Its me, dh, my dd (4) and my ds(1). My travel agent at AAA asked if my little girl could pass for almost 3. I said well she is petite and people do think she is 3. She suggested that I just purchase tickets to the parks for me and dh and not my dd. She said they don't "card" at the gates so I should be ok.

What do you all think? I am nervous about it. Should I just call back and say add a 3rd ticket? I guess the worst that could happen is that WDW asks us to buy her a ticket that day right?

let your conscience be your guide. :rolleyes1

if you want my opinion - you need to buy a ticket. all children 3 and older need a ticket, children 2 and under do not.

it also sounds like you need a new TA. I also use AAA but regardless of the agency I do not approve of encouraging dishonesty. :confused3

I thoroughly agree with My2Cinderellas and would also suggest you speak to your TA's supervisor and share the unethical advice your TA has given you.

My opinion is you need to follow the rules Disney has for tickets. Your daughter is old enough to need a ticket so you should buy it.

If expect my kids to be honest and do the right thing, then I need to be the one setting the example. It doesn't matter if they know about it or not. I know.

This is my opinion and what I would do. I'm sure others will have different ideas but this is what I think. You should do what is right for your family.

I'm actually surprised a reputable TA would suggest something like this.

ugh what a headache...so couldn't I just buy her the MYW tickets the day we arrive?

I mean there isn't any discount to the tickets if I pre-buy them right? I don't know if I can change the reservation through AAA at this point...or can I? Its Sunday otherwise I'd call them.

If you are on a package that requires everyone to be on the same type of plan I would probably do it now.

There is a pre-buy discount if you purchase through the Disney site. I'm not sure how it works through AAA.

Honesty aside, since everyone has to listen to their own conscience, how would you feel if a cast member at the gate just said something like "Oh, what a sweet girl, how old are you, Sweetie? Most kids are pretty proud of their age.

Doesn't that kind of make you wonder if your TA has been honest with you? I assume he is paid on commission which is a percentage, so I would wonder if I was sold the package that was best for you or him.

I would go ahead and buy the ticket. I believe that you are also going to have the same issue with meals, since age 3 and up don't eat free.

I have actually seen this a couple times, the CM's will try and politely "engage" a child who looks over 2. Then there was my 2yo nephew who proudly announced he was 14!

There is a small discount for buying tickets in advance and if your on a dining plan you will want to have a ticket for your 4yo so she can use the dining plan. Otherwise you can buy a ticket when you check in or at the first park should you so decide.

ok I am going to call AAA back tomorrow to see what they say about adding the tickets for my dd. I have only paid a deposit so hopefully they wont' give me any trouble.

:worried:

They probably will not give you trouble about adding a ticket, especially if you talk to the TA's supervisor. Pretty inappropriate, when an agent tries to get customers to be dishonest.

Also, even if your dd can pass for 3, 3 yr olds have to have tickets to get in. 2 yr olds and under do not. Trying to pass a 4yr old for a 2 yr old is a pretty big stretch. They questioned my dd, when we were there for her 3rd birthday... and she is very petite (25 lbs, 32"), with a binky and a baby face.

I am not going to preach morals... I say that what honesty/dishonesty you practice (or not) is a personal decision. Just am pretty disappointed in your TA! Wow.

I'd buy a ticket - it's the right thing to do. In fact, my DD was turning 3 the next week after our trip and I explained her age a couple of times. (We went that week on purpose because she was still only 2.) There's no way a 4 year old will pass.

Also, There are also various places to get good discounts on pre-buying the tickets. Check out mousesavers.com.

If they dare give you any trouble, talk to the AAA supervisor. If the supervisor gives you any trouble, tell her you are going to write letters reporting the behavior to Disney and the national AAA office.

I'm absolutely shocked that a professional would lack these ethics. I don't blame you for being tempted, after all your TA is the professional, and I admire you for questioning it.
