Im nervous about flying for 9 hours because the longest flight i have ever done is 2 hours :scared1: I keep telling myself it will all be worth it in the end for Disney :lovestruc Does the flight seem really long or does the excitement take over? :confused3

For what its worth both my mum and nan are terrified of flying! But both have managed to go to WDW on numerous occassions - infact this will be my mums 16th trip!

My mum is scared of any moment that you are in the air lol! But mostly take of and landing along with any turbulence. She just has a double vodka before she gets on the plane and she is usually ok. Her logic is the plane is safer as it has more engines lol :)

On the way out the excitement definately takes over! She usually takes the latest brits guide book or something to read on the plane. If you watch a film or something the flight goes quite quickly (never quickly enough lol) but it will be fine! :)

It will definately be worth it in the end :)

My DH hates flying but he usually finds a couple of drinks help. He's so much better now than our first trip in 1990. I'm sure you'll be fine. Watch a couple of films, listen to music, lunch, snack and you're nearly there. Worth it to get to Disney :goodvibes

Hey! We went a few weeks ago, and this was my first long haul flight too - the longest I had done was 4 hours, and I hate flying!

It is completely worth it though! The flight going didn't actually seem that long - there were plenty of movies, TV programmes and games on the in-flight TV's, plus we tried to nap too which helped! The flight back, I thought felt quite long. But I think that was because I didn't manage to sleep, and probably because I didn't want to go home!! lol

I liked to watch the "where are we" screen every so often too!

It really is worth it in the end :goodvibes

I've done lots of flights, ranging from 20 minutes (scariest!!!!) to 18 hours.

And in my opinion once you're past 4 hours it all merges and time kind of loses meaning. While you;re on the plane it feels like you always have been, and once you land you feel like it was only a second ago you got on, if that makes sense?

I much prefer an 8 or 9 hour flight to a 2, 3, or 4 though, as even a 2 hour flight I want to get up or do lots of things, but you the planes on short haul don;t allow for it.

At least on a trans-atlantic flight you have the time to unpack your bag and get your books and stuff all sorted for the flight, and the planes are bigger, so you can take a walk to the toilets far away, or go and stand at the back by a window to stretch your legs.

Can't really do that on small european planes, which i think makes them feel more of a drag as you're stuck in your seat.

That is the most ridiculous sounding sentence I've ever read, yet is absolutely spot on :lmao:

Hello,
I am not scared of flying as such, but the flight drives me completely insane, as I usually cant sit still more than a couple of hours.
My tips are take loads of things to do. I take Nintendo DSi with at least one game that is still in the wrapper, so it is new and exciting. Also, lots of mags, including crossword/puzzle type. A book, snacks, some pens and paper (you can always start writing your dis trip report!) and watch a couple of films.

I usually drive my wonderful DH bonkers because i am also up and down like a yo-yo wandering about, chatting to flight attendants and other passengers, and getting drinks etc.

I also take one of those bean bag neck pillow things, so if I amazingly manage to have a kip then at least it is comfortable!

Hope your flight goes well, and like lots of others said its really really worth it when you get there, and when you are flying home you can just be thinking about your next trip back :cheer2:

I'm terrified of flying. I try to keep myself distracted by listening to music and watching TV shows/films on my ipod. It is worth it in the end. I hope your flight goes well :)

:rotfl: Glad you concur!

::yes:: I did this last trip and it really really helped!!! Didn't even open the box until we were in the air! I find you can always get a couple of hours from a new game you've wanted!

Also, lots of mags, including crossword/puzzle type. A book, snacks, some pens and paper (you can always start writing your dis trip report!) and watch a couple of films.

I actually pack my little netbook and get the TR started! And also before the flight I save some Tour Guide Mike, DIS pages and do some last minute planning!

I usually drive my wonderful DH bonkers because i am also up and down like a yo-yo wandering about, chatting to flight attendants and other passengers, and getting drinks etc.

It is like I wrote this post!! We'd get on so well on a flight!

i hate flying and the thing that got me through it was rescue remedy spray and a paul mckenna method type thing.. tapping your web bit between your index finger and thumb, some kind of destress thing(can't remember what its called)
