Nemo Ride Update, MAYBE open this weekend

From Touring Plans.Com:

We've gotten word that over this weekend (Oct 7-8, 2006) the refurbishment walls at the Living Seas (now becoming the Seas with Nemo and Friends) are scheduled to be removed in anticipation of the preview openings for annual passholders and DVC members later in the week as well as Disney Cast Member (employee) previews starting on Wednesday.

The short version of the long story is that they need to operate the pavilion as though it were fully open and staffed for Monday and Tuesday. That means if and when conditions allow there's a slight chance the ride may open to regular day guests. So, if you're in Epcot, feel free to swing on by and check it out, but please don't expect it to be open.

In less vague news, the pavilion is officially expected to be fully operational and accepting regular guests by October 31st at the latest. More than likely it will reopen after a breif period of downtime for minor adjustments after the previews (to work out the kinks they discover - if any) and then go into an official "soft opening" period until it holds a grand opening celebration.

Thanks for the update. That's great news as it looks like it will be open when we are there. :goodvibes
:thanks:

I think I missed this topic, but what exactly are they changing about the living seas? they are putting in a new ride?

I saw this earlier and I am hoping that nothing will go wrong so it will be open for our November trip. Just in case that the link doesn't work go to TOURING PLANS .COM (WITHOUT THE SPACe) and then click on the news section.

here is some info

Guests will board "clam-mobiles" and join Mr. Ray on a field trip. As expected, Nemo has wandered off and you'll join in the search for this curious clownfish.

Through the use of new technology, it will seem as if the stars from "Finding Nemo" are in the 5.7 million gallon Living Seas aquarium. You'll see Crush, Bruce and, of course, Marlin and Dory as they go on a frantic pursuit of Nemo.

The musical finale features Nemo being reunited with his Dad and friends.

Great news! Looks like we might get to see it on our trip at the end of this month.

Isn't the preview for CM, AP and DVC the first time they let people on the rides? What's the point in a special preview if they let everyone on a week before the preview?

Stupid tab button . .

Don't get me wrong, we'll be there on the 22nd and are hoping for some soft openings as well.

Keeping our fingers crossed.

Really it's just that the DVC and AP preview is advertised. Think of it this way . . . what if they turned on the ride the morning of the DVC preview and it didn't work when they got it fully loaded, and they had to take a few days to get it working right? This way, they can very quietly iron out any major problems, have a (hopefully) flawless preview period for the folks they announced the preview to, send them back home with raves about the new attraction, and everyone's happy (and more likely, 95% of the DVC and AP folks none the wiser that they are really not the first).
