Neighbors Dog pooping in front of my house

Unfortunately my dog is the same way...he refuses to poop in our yard. He always wanders over to the neighbors yard to do that part of his business. I would NEVER not clean it up though! As soon as I get him back in the house I am right over there with my shovel and bag. I also have the only dog on the planet who will not poop on a walk. He also won't go if he knows we are watching him. He is really weird about it, he likes privacy. We are not allowed to have fences in our neighborhood due to an easement. Luckily my neighbors are very understanding as their golden used to come and sit on our back porch all the time and watch us eat dinner :lmao:

Only 1 thing worked for us---DH put all the neighbors dog poop in a box, rang their doorbell and handed to them. We haven't had dog poop in our yard since then.

i work at a garden center and this may sound nasty but it works try predetor urines they sell this that look like big cotton swabs put them on the premetor of your yard hope this helps

I would have more of an issue with the owners dismissing the whole thing than I would with the dog poop.

Our neighbors would just let their dog out. The dog would come into my garage to bark at DH if he was in there and onto my front porch to bark at us. When we complained, the guy just said that their old neighbors thought it was "fun" to get the dog to bark. Then the dog started getting into our trash when we put it out by the curb. I was pregnant and had a toddler and was sick of trudging out in the snow to clean up trash all over the street-- the dog would tear apart the bags to find the "yummy" diapers. They denied that it could possibly be their dog because she didn't get into their trash (which was kept in the garage and taken directly to the dump, not picked up at the road). I am home all day and would have to go out repeatedly and chase the dog away-- I know it was their dog. DH went over and asked if their dog licks their kids. When the guy replied "yes", DH said "Well until you stop letting your dog out on trash day your kids will have my kid's $@! (er.. feces) on their faces." The dog did not get into our trash again. :upsidedow

DH also would throw all their dog poop back into their yard, but they didn't care because they didn't ever go outside.

exactly, put the poop in a box, clear plastic container, clear bag, bucket, etc., go over to the neighbor, ring the bell, and nicely hand them the crap and ask them to PLEASE keep the dog in their yard and pick up the dog poop if it comes your way. After a few time, they will get it. You can also call them (if you see it) and leave a message everytime. Our neighbors are close friends, but they got a weiner dog that barks tons and tons, they would let her out in the morning and go get in the shower - bark bark bark for 25 minutes! I finally called after a week and left a tired sounding message that she was barking and waking us up. I think honestly is the best first policy!

I love it! :rotfl2:

I send a letter that included the county ordinance against having a dog roam free. They ended up moving right after that, but it did stop the problem before they left.

For the people who are not allowed to have a fence, could you have an underground fence?

I think it would be safer for a dog and prevent this sort of problem.

I have the same problem in my neighborhood. A lady with two large dogs lets them go on my grass (2x a day), she picks it up (most of the time), but what happens when she doesnt get it all? Then my kids run thru it. I wish I could spray or put something down, but I dont know what I can use. I have nothing against the animals, but can't people train them to go in the street along the curb and not on my grass.

We had this issue at our old house...we scooped it up and tossed it over into their yard. Within a week, no more problem. They watched their dog when it pooped and even put in an underground fence to keep him in.

It is a drag though...it isn't your issue, but you are forced to deal with it to keep the poo out of your yard.

I think it's so wrong that someone that doesn't own a dog would have to put up a fence to keep someone elses dog out of their yard!! People should be responsible for their animals if they're going to have them. Sorry, rant over  I've had problems in this area as you can tell! It makes mowing the yard so special :confused3

My dog doesn't go potty on walks either. She waits til she gets home.

I don't think my neighbors would let me put a collar on their dog.

Besides, why should Ihave to incur an expense to keep their dog from doing its business in my yard?

I had a women who would walk her dog threw my flower beds and in my fenced area. The dog was NEVER on a leash. She would sit on my deck while her dog did his thing and she would leave. After about 5 times telling her to get out of my yard and put her dog on a leash. She would say" he isn't a pet he is my son" I called the police and had them tell her that next time she was in my yard she would be getting a tresspassing compliant. Also if her dog was out of her yard again with out a leash she would be getting a ticket for that too. She slammed the door in the policemans face. But i haven't seen her since or her dog.

You are being to nice. Tell them again to keep their dog out of your yard if they don't have a policeman tell them.

**First before you read.....We didn't know our dogs were getting out under the chain link fence otherwise we would have done something**

A couple of years ago before we moved we had 2 English Bulldogs. Our female was a little pain. Our neighbor started putting dog poop on our front park bench (children size) and on our front steps. I ran a daycare so the kids would step in it or sit in it if you didn't catch that it was there before the kids stepped out the house or played on the bench. We had no idea our female was climbing under our fence in "1 spot". If he would have said something I would have fixed it!

I'd call the city police dept and talk to animal control. That's what I have to do at a building I manage with pets.

Your dog is not the only dog on the planet who won't poop on a walk! My friend's dog is like this too! She won't poop or pee! She doesn't sniff or anything. She just takes her walk and minds her own business! :confused3 My dog stops every five feet to sniff and pee, and will squeeze out a second poop if we give him the opportunity. Those are the WORST (sorry, tmi, but you can't pick up a poop that wasn't ready to come out in the first place:eek:) I really hate walking my dog!

Seeing you live on LI, most likely there is a pooper scooper ordinance in your town as well as a leash law. Next time you see it happen, report the dog and the uncleaned poop to your towns animal control department. They will get a nice visit by animal control telling them that the need to clean up their poop and keep their dogs on a leash. They probably will also get fined. Let your township handle this, as they're the ones breaking the law!

My other neighbor called the town and was told that they have to catch the dog int he act. That ain't going to happen. Maybe I can try to get it's picture. Now that's an idea. Thanks
