When can I expect to find any good rates? Also, as I'm getting quotes online at various rental car companies, I'm getting very few "unlimited mileage". I need the rental for 8-9 days and I'm getting quotes for around $400-$500. Where are the $199/week rates (for March 2004)?

Don't know if this is an option for you but we are doing this in June of 2004.
We wanted a Minivan for our Vero Beach trip for 7 of us, and the lowest I could find was around $425-$500 for 7 days. So we decided to just get 2 cars at $170 for each. And since all seven of us are drivers it would give us more freedom to go different places.
We are using National(EA) for our

2 rentals, and it is unlimited milage.

Check out travelocity asap. I just got a $199 rate with National for April 1-7.

Are you putting in a Discount # or Frequent Renter #? Did you get unlimited mileage?

I went to nationalcar.com (National) and without any codes I was able to get a minivan for 3/7-3/15 for 199.00 per week plus taxes and surcharges. The same was true for 3/1-3/8, 3/14-3/22, 3/21-3/28, and 3/28-4/4.

All were for unlimited mileage. All were for pickup at MCO.

I'm picking up and dropping off in Louisville, KY.

Sorry, the $199 was for MCO, I assume you were picking up there. If you are renting in Louisville and driving to Florida, be sure the contract will allow you to take the van to Florida. I know in our area, some contracts won't allow you to take it out of Michigan or a state conected to Michigan. The rental car companies don,t like you putting 2500 miles on a rental in a week.

Thank you all for the great tips!! We will be in Orlando and need to rent a minivan from Dec 31 to January 16 .. and the prices were outrageous!! I went to travelocityand was messing around with dates and found out that from Jan 1st and 2nd the rate were $226/wk while renting from Dec 31 was $365/wk (or thereabouts). We will take a van for $55 one-way then I'll catch the bus or ? to the airport on the 2nd and save well over $250. Thx again everyone .. love this board :) :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Just wanted to say "thanks" for the info. I was above to book our minivan for our March 2004 for a great rate! I was able to book the $199/week rate and use my 2004 Entertainment coupon. Again, many thanks!
