We are headed down in just 2 weeks!:woohoo::woohoo:. I am so ready! My DH and I were thinking about taking the "Keys to the Kingdom Tour" at the MK on this trip but have some family members who feel that it might take the magic away. I am wondering what some of the opinions are of those who have already done the tour. We have the Disney visa so a 20% discount would give a welcome savings. I am thinking the tour is well worth it but know I would get the most honest reviews here on the forum. Thanks!:thumbsup2

During our last trip, July 2010, SM broke down and we were ushered

out to the backstage area of the ride, for me it kind of broke the spell

of the Disney magic.

Look at the *Behind the scene steam train tour*!!!!

If your at all a train buff, thats the trip!

When my buddy and I went, the wives hit the GF spa..........lets be honest now..............everything costs something.!!!!:cool1:

Enjoy your WDW trip!

I've been on the Keys to the Kingdom, the Steam Trains, and the Behind the Scenes Animal Kingdom (not its real name). You have been to WDW multiple times so Keys to the Kingdom would be fine. It's for people 16 and older only. I found going under Magic Kingdom into the Utilidors fascinating. You also get to see where the parade floats are kept and to hear how the parades are choreographed. Lots of other things to see. Those are the two that stick out.

The train tour was interesting. You get to go to the roundhouse and see how the trains are maintained. You also get to sit in the engineer's seat (not while they are going, though).

The Animal Kingdom tour takes you to the animal barns that you see when you take the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch. You also get to go behind the scenes at Rafiki to see how the animals' food is prepared and to see the hospital.

I vote for Keys to the Kingdom if you haven't been on it before.

BTW, there's a wanted poster with a $25 reward backstage for someone, who will remain nameless, for now. Something about taking pictures of a Flux Capacitor Doforlater prototype.

Has the magic returned yet?

You know what they say about the sausage making process, you don't want to see it. Some love the tours, some not so much. A lot depends on the tour guide. Unless you're a real WDW fanatic, there are better ways to spend your money at WDW. I've seen a lot more than they show on the tour and I'm not sure I'd pay to see what I've seen.

The feedback I've read usually says that one of the high points are the tunnels/utilidors. If you go to the service level of any large hotel, you'll see the same thing except it won't have Disney stuff on the walls.

The lapse in the magic was only a temporary state of mind.

Thinking hard and serious about that reward. She don’t scare me. :lmao:

Only $25.00? Given the reaction, you'd think it would have been at least $50.00. ;)

You'd give me up for $25!!!???? Have you forgotten about the dungeon where they put renegade photographers????? At least sell me to the gypsies on Hwy 25 so I can have big hair, very flashy clothes and a Cadillac!!!!

OP....I've been backstage several times and for me it is def a little bit of a let down. Except for the snickering rabbit room. That was facinating. But that's just me. I've heard the AK behind the scenes stuff is pretty good. Hope you have a great time whatever you decide. :thumbsup2

I wanted to do it on one of our upcoming trips, but DH insists that it takes a little of the magic away. I might do it on our Spring Break trip in March while they are hanging at the Fort. For me....it would be awesome.....

I did the KTTK tour and thought it was great. We had a very good tour guide. You get to go on a few rides entering a different non waiting queue and lunch is provided at Columbia Harbour House. All in all it was fun. They give you a little pin with your name on it as well. If you get 20% off, and I think it's about 50 bucks I'd go. Have fun.
