Need your opinions please. We have ADR for BOMA breakfast buffet for Easter weekend for myself, DH, DD21 & DS14. Do you think $20.99 (holiday surcharge) per person for a breakfast buffet is worth it?

We are not going to the parks on this trip....just a couple days at POP and doing some of the things around "the World" that we never have time to do. Then we head to St. Pete Beach for a week.

I guess the frugal side of me is having a bit of trouble justifying this amount of money for breakfast. What do you think? :confused3

If not BOMA'S....what breakfast with a little Disney flair (not character) would you recommend?

I think Boma is worth it. When we went to Chef Mickey's it was $22.99, not sure how much it is now, so I think no matter what b-fast buffet you pick it will be in that same price range. The quality of food at Boma's compared to some of the other b-fast buffets we have been to is exceptional. You really can't beat it if you compare the food to others at b-fast. There is lots to choose from and if you are not planning on a park that day there is much to see at AKL, so you will get some entertainment as well. Boma's buffet includes all the traditional food, eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, fresh fruit, but also has a meat carving station, and a few African dishes. There is also the famous "jungle juice" that is very good. I would say go for it! :thumbsup2

Boma buffet is AMAZING! It will be the same price everywhere, but in addition to you normal offerings Boma has many different yummy dishes - enjoy!

Boma is most definitely worth it! The food is such a nice change to the regular food offerings at buffets. They do, though, offer traditional items as well that are scrumptious!:goodvibes

Well, I think we will go for it! We have the latest ADR at 10:40am so we should be good & hungry and won't need to eat until dinner.

We've never been to AKL. What would you recommend we do while we are there for our dining experience. I think I read somewhere that AKL does lodge tours. Anyone have any info on that?

I would for sure say it is worth it! The selection is great, something for everyone plus soo much more;)

Is Boma for breakfast worth it?

Without the holiday surcharge? Absolutely.
With the holiday surcharge? I'm not so sure. I'm just opposed to the holiday surcharge as a general principle.

I'd stick with the Kona suggestion. Hopefully you'll be able to do Boma someday without that surcharge.

I'd also go with Kona for breakfast...for about $15 per person you can get the Big Kahuna breakfast & a beverage. It's a huge platter of food. And no lines.

I love Boma for breakfast. It's worth it. You'll love it. I'll be going there again at the end of May.:cool1:

:wizard: We went to Boma last August for the breakfast buffet. Don't get me wrong, it was good. We also went to Kona for breakfast and really loved it. I guess it really depends on how much you eat and if a buffet is worth $21.00 for breakfast. For us, that would just be too much money. I would go to Boma instead and then walk around the Poly grounds.

I'm glad someone asked this b/c I was wondering the same thing:rotfl:Boma breakfast is one that we're gonna be paying for OoP so I was a little concerned. Sounds like most love it though so seems like a good choice. :thumbsup2

Boma breakfast is great. We usually try to get a late breakfast time and this keeps us full through dinner time. Especially if you are not heading to the park. It is a great resort to walk around. You can check out the lobby and all the animals. I would go there.

We will be in WDW later this week for my DH's 50th birthday and will be having breakfast there one morning.

We have done Kona for breakfast also and love this one too but I would stick wsith Boma.

Linda

We loved our stay at AKL and loved Boma. You asked what else you can do there...we ended up reserving an entire vacation day devoted to just seeing this resort, and I'm so happy we did this. The best thing we did and I strongly encourage you to do this, is after your breakfast, just start going up and down the hallways of all the rooms. And enjoy ALL the African artwork, and all the descriptions that go along with it. It is truly amazing what they have done here. We took TWO whole hours, and we only covered two floors!! Not to mention the time taken to see the animals and all the places you can view them. Oh my gosh, this resort is just breathtaking. When my DH and I finallly get a trip on our own next year, without the kids, we want to stay here and just relax and enjoy it. Have fun!

Boma is the best breakfast in all of WDW for us...considering local buffets are $40-100 per person I think Boma prices are a steal!

Oh my GOSH!!!!!!!!!! I can't imagine paying that much for a breakfast buffet--dinner maybe if the quality and selection was good and it included drinks & dessert.

Thank you all for your recommendations. I think I will keep our reservation and spend some time at AKL enjoying the art and architecture as well as the gift shop and animals. I appreciate the Kona recommendations as well---checked Kona's menu and just think Boma's will work best for us.

IMO you have made a great choice! And by doing it a little later, it should hold you over most of the day. The food is wonderful there and you don't feel rushed at all.

Walk around and look at the animals from the different viewing areas and take some pictures of the incredible lobby and walk across the bridge. They have a great gift shop as well. Psst... you can also stop in to Mara and get some of those great and wonderful Zebra Domes to go! Can't leave AKL without them I always say! Enjoy your visit!

What is this holiday surcharge? I'm going to be at DW for Easter/Spring Break. I have the dining plan... does that cover the surcharge??? I'm so confused.

Why would they raise the cost of their food just for a holiday? I'm already paying a higher rate for our room! The food isn't going to be any better on Easter than any other day, right?
