We have never been to the water parks, but we're planning to go to Typhoon Lagoon in June. The plan is to go on a Monday and to get there prior to opening.

It looks like that the tallest you have to be for anything is 48". My younger DS (who will have recently turned 7) is already taller than that. He goes on all of the thrill rides at the parks, so I think we'll be doing everything (other than the shark reef).

I'm just curious which of the rides are single rider vs. two/four at time, etc. I can find descriptions of the rides, but they're not really that clear if you go down with someone or if it's all one at a time.

Does anyone have a good touring plan for TL? Any advice to offer would be greatly appreciated. I feel so unprepared/clueless. Thanks in advance!

Crush N Gusher slides are the newest at Typhoon Lagoon. There are 4 slides, I do know some of them are double rider, but I don't recall if any of them are single rider only, yet I'm pretty sure there is at least one that you can go on as a single rider. It's our favourite, and we always go there at RD and ride continuously before the lines get too long. Then we sometimes go to the family ride , then we head to the wave pool. We aren't big fans of the rest of the slides there, partially because most of the other slides are single rider only and you have to carry your tubes up the steps/hill and I get pooped carrying 2 tubes (one for me, 1 for kids) all the time. You do have to carry the tubes for the crush n gusher, but the ride just seemed more worth the work to us.

We LOVE  the water parks!

We love TL, we are going there twice on our upcoming trip, we love it over BB. With that said, to answer your question Keelhaul Falls (the tamest of the slides) and Mayday Falls (more on the wilder side), which are on Mt. Mayday are both single rider slides where you use a tube. There is also Gang Plank Falls up there which is the family raft ride. There are also body slides, which I am not sure if anybody in your party like these types of slides (I myself am not big on them but DH and DD12 like them). As for Crush N Gusher, like the PP said it is a 2 person raft ride where you sit one in front of another. There maybe more but for some reason I just can't think of them right now. Enjoy TL, you are going to really like it :goodvibes.

This is a good point. I know my DH and I would probably be lugging our kids' rafts (at least one of theirs).

We're not big water park goers (Disney or elsewhere), so I'm not sure if "body slide" means without a tube/raft. If so, why don't you like them? Are they just not comfortable?

I think TL will be fun. I like to do something different every trip so we'll see if this becomes a regular thing or not. I can't imagine spending the whole day there (too tiring) -- I'm thinking about 5 hours -- do you think that will be enough?

There are actually 3 slides at Crush 'n Gusher. One is for double riders only, one is for double or triple riders, and one is for singles, doubles, or triples.

The body slides refer to laying flat on your back and flying down the slide without a tube, raft, or mat. I don't like them because I don't like the freefall feeling that they give plus it does hurt my back. I like slides that require a tube/raft/mat to give me some sort of protection.

As for how long to stay at TL, I think 5 hours should be good, especially if you don't plan on staying there until close. Make sure to get there at opening so that you can stake out your prime spot that you want and then go and have fun. When we are there in May we plan to get there right at park opening (or very close to it) and stay until 3ish. That will give us enough time to play and have fun plus be able to relax and watch our kids play in the wave pool. Depending on how adventurous we are, we may see what the Shark Reef is all about, but I am still thinking about that one.

Okay, I understand about the body slides now. They hurt my back, too. We'll definitely be able to pull off getting there just before they open since we'll have our car. From looking at the map, I think it makes the most sense for us to stake out a spot around Crush 'n Gusher since we'll probably spend quite a bit of time there and I also like the proximity to the lockers. Thanks again for the info. Can't wait to try it out!
