Prior to my maternity leave, I was the full-time (64 hours pay period) charge nurse on the behavior unit at our nursing home. I had been for a little over a year prior.
Upon my return, I am no longer full time wing nurse down there, but instead am being made to float and a nurse with only 4 months senority has been given the position on that unit. (I have almost 2 years in).
Now, I realize the FMLA only states that I have to b e returned to the same OR EQUAL position upon my return and since I have the same pay and same benfits, they probably will say that cuts it. However, IMO (and probably many other nurses), floating and having a permanant assignment are two completley different things. I hate floating!!!
Anyway, I have sat back docile without complaining for two months, however two days ago after working three different wings in three different days, I wrote a letter asking why I had been taken off the permanent assignment. I wasn't accusatory or rude or nasty. I simply told them I had hoped and expected to return to the wing upon my return and I was disappointed and wondered if there was something lacking in my work that made them make the decision to float me. (I strongly suspect it is a case of butt kissing on the part of the other nurse, but obviously I didn't say that).
She has yet to acknowledge me and I am really bummed. I probably won't get an answer from her either. Anyway, I just wanted to vent and let out my frustrations!!
