Need to stay 1 night in POR Oct 10th

If you are coming from the port, are you going to have time to fit all that in 1 afternoon/evening. Check in time isn’t until 3 at Disney, and what time does the party start? Then you are factoring in the time for a boat ride and back from Disney springs, and then transportation to the party.
I think it doesn’t matter where you stay, as long as you find a place where you can get into your room when you arrive. What time will you arrive in Orlando?

Was looking at rack rate for POR - looks like $310 per night - Points for a standard studio at SSR is 14 x $17 (Rental) = $238.
Looks like renting DVC points may be a viable option. Alternatively - as people mentioned - there may be other options in the Disney Springs Hotels
Also, when you rent points, there's no 12% sales tax added to the price. :cool1: That is significant savings right there.
The trade off is lack of ability to cancel or make changes.
We have rented many times and find the savings is well worth the limitations. We also combine rented point stays with cruising so we buy trip insurance that covers both. It only covers for specific reasons so if you think you want flexibility in your reservation simply for the sake of changing your mind, you should probably avoid the point renting path. There is trip insurance with "cancel for any reason" but it usually needs to be purchased very shortly after the first plans were made, usually around 14 days prior. So if you booked your cruise months ago and just now decided to add on after, I'd probably call to get the specifics on what's covered.

Can you just stay offsite somewhere and take rideshare? DD and I stayed at a Universal hotel last fall and took rideshare to GF with a dinner reservation at Grand Floridian Cafe then afterwards went to the MK holiday party. Then we took a bus to Pop Century (or anywhere) and shopped, then took a rideshare back to our hotel. It was very easy and relatively cheap. In your case you could take a bus to and from Disney Springs if you’re shopping there prior?
Thank you - I think I have decided that I am going to stay off site - I was honestly hoping to just stay somewhere that the monorail connected to but in hind site - if my daughter wants to do Disney Springs and I am only going to the 1 party that night - I will have a car rental (against my better wishes) but .. because I am flying out of Tampa I really felt like my hands were tied on that note. I am sure an uber from the party to Tampa is outlandish lol. So = I don't think I would use ride share or the busses - of course I have been trying to put together anything for time effectiveness because we are on a very tight timeline (she talked me into a Halloween Cruise and the Halloween Party) its my quickest trip ever! Thanks again for the tip

Thank you for trying to make sense of this for me. So ... if it goes like my last cruise - we were off the Disney Ship by like 10am at the latest I believe. My rental car will be waiting in the car park there .. I can feasibly be at Disney Springs by noon easy ... I was thinking if I had stayed onsite that even though check in was most likley late (that I could take advantage of the boat over to springs instead of driving and I could have the guest services check my luggage into my room for me) and just text me what room number to go to. The party starts formally at 7pm but you can enter MK at 4pm with the party tickets. I am not too worried about the hustle (we go often) .... so if I had to omit getting to MK right at 4pm Im ok with that --- or if my daughter had to spend less time buying stuff at Springs I might be okay with that too lol.

Oh , I get you. I don’t like driving and parking at Disney Springs, either. The disney resorts all have bus service to Disney springs, so maybe just pick the lowest priced Disney resort available for your date, if driving is the concern.
