We've had to change our plans and now we're flying into Orlando but flying out of Tampa and don't really want to rent a car unless there is no other cost effective way.

We need to get to a hotel near the Tampa airport on the evening of Easter Sunday....any and all suggestions greatly appreciated!

You can take the train (Amtrak) from Kissimmee to Tampa, the only real downside being you still have to get from Walt Disney World to the station in Kissimmee (its closer than Orlando) and then from the Tampa station to your hotel, which usually means a taxi.

The most inexpensive option and really the only practical one is a 1-day car rental. With most companies there is no drop charge within Florida.

Try Priceline. Use betterbidding or biddingfortravel for research.

I don't know what car rental prices would be for one day but it costs about $171 + tolls and tip with Happy Limo. Other companies may be less expensive.

A car rental should be well-below $50 although with it being Easter weekend, a booking needs to be made now. There are no tolls to Tampa but of course the gas tank needs to be filled too.

We are at the Doubletree on N Rocky Point the night before Easter. It is very close to the airport and provided a shuttle if I remember correctly. But, finding a cheap way to get there is going to be hard.

I didn't play with a lot of codes but it looks like a one way car rental, pickup at MCO and drop off at TPA will cost around $100. It's a one way rental booked close to your rental date. I'm not sure how much lower you can get. Many of the codes we use aren't valid on a one day rental.

It might actually be cheapest to rent for 2 days, because then you have a Saturday overnight and you'll qualify for weekend rates. Remember that rental days are normally 24 hours and plan your pickup time accordingly.

There are no tolls from Orlando to Tampa. The most direct route is via I-4 and there are no tolls.

As PP have said, the most cost effective way would be to rent a car. I also suggest you book as soon as possible.
