Need to do DCA on a Sunday in July with no EMH.....

what to do? We have older kids (11 and 14)--how is best to do Carsland and California Screamin (I think those will be our 2 biggest challenges) without crazy standby times?

Any help is much appreciated--only our 2nd time in DL!

I think you should head straight to Carsland and get in the single rider line for RSR and then enjoy the rest of Carsland. As you are leaving the area to head over to Screamin, pick up a FP to ride the RSR again as a family (the ticket distribution should be close to an evening return time which is a wonderful time to ride

The single rider line moves quickly and even though you won't be sitting next to each other, you will possibly end up in a vehicle with another person in your group and the n the other 2 people could also end up in a car together -- the best part about this is that you will probably be racing each other at the end of the ride which can be a lot of fun. There is no guarantee of this, of course, but the CMs that work the single rider line do there bast to make sure families or groups waiting in the single rider line get to race each other

Once you are on the boardwalk area and ride Screamin' (which also has a single rider line if you would really like to lessen your wait time or ride more than once) the next attraction over is Toy Story Midway Mania which is a lot of fun.

There are many times during the day when California Screamin' has a pretty short wait. As for RSR, I agree about the single rider line, as that's pretty much all we do. But getting a FP at opening won't be a problem.

TSMM and RSR are usually the only things with lines in DCA in the morning any time before 10-11. You can get on anything else with like a 5 minute wait usually.

My "kids" are teens and we really enjoy riding together. While single rider lines are great, we usually prefer to get a FP and get in the same car. You will have time to get a FP in the morning. Oh, and if you have a chance to go twice, RSR after dark is amazing.

As far as CS, on our last three summer trips you could find lines as short as five to ten minutes.

Agreed. And TSMM is the only one you would have trouble with(possibly) because it does not have FP. If you get there at opening behind the EMH crowd there may be sizeable line for TSMM. I grab a FP for RSR and head to the Pier and either ride TSMM right away if you are riding that, otherwise Screamin'. Then you can later use your FP for RSR and the SR line for multiple rides if you choose.

I completely concur. We almost always grab RSR FP and then head directly to TSMM. I don't know if you're there before or after July 17th (the 60th anniversary, which will likely increase crowds), but generally Sunday mornings are pretty easy. Get there at least 15 minutes before the gates open and you'll get a ton done in the first two hours. I also agree that CS often has VERY short wait times. So I'd do RSR FP, TSMM, then, since it's next door, CS. Maybe twice! Have fun. And definitely ride TOT as well!
