Need to buy $5400 worth of Disney gift cards...

I get so torn on this, reading these target threads. On the one hand, there's no way I could personally ask for something that could potentially lose somebody their job to save me $200. On the other hand I do understand people who say I'm looking out for me, the employees know the rules and it's up to them. As I'm one who had a strong belief in personal responsibility.

These coupons! I like to save money but I've never seen a coupon without limitations or deals that haven't changed over time. I don't know why people think target owes them this!

I, too, believe in personal responsibility, but what if say that Manager was on vacation or out sick when the new policy came out and he was not brought up to speed... he is over-riding in good faith, trying to uphold the motto "the customer is always right," while the customer knows he's at risk but doesn't tell him... I could *never* ask anyone to do that without full disclosure just for my own savings...

Let's keep in mind that a $5,400 Disney vacation is nice, but it is a luxury, not a necessity... to put someone's livelihood at risk for a luxury just would not feel right to me.

OP here: For the record, I didn't ask the manager to override the pharmacy rewards coupon. He scanned it, it didn't work, he pulled out an ipad and read the fine print on the Pharmacy rewards website and said it "doesn't say you can't use them so I'm going to give you the discount." He voluntarily looked it up- I didn't ask him to do that.

I went back in to Target this morning after talking with my bank. Apparently I have a $3000 daily limit on my card which prevented me from completing my transaction last night. The bank raised it for today only so that I could finish up my transaction. I ended up purchasing $5000 worth of gift cards for $4500. I'm pretty excited. The savings will almost cover the cost to board my 2 dogs while we're at Disney! :cool1:

We just bought $1000 Disney Gift Cards about 4-5 days ago. At the register the pharmacy rewards card did not work. We went straight to the customer service desk and asked. The girl ran it through and it worked. We got $47 credit put on our red card. She said that if it is taken to the service desk on the same day an adjustment can be given. I asked and she said that she did not know of any policy changes.

I was at Target yesterday and in the section where they have a majority of gift cards there was a sign above saying you could no longer use 5% pharmacy rewards on gift cards :confused3

The Target's I go to easily have that amount available every time I go in. We have decided that purchasing the cards at a grocery store that has fuel perks with an airline credit card is the best bang for our buck now that the additional 5% is gone.

I have the credit red card and have been buying them $2,000 at at time with no problems.

I'm not normally buying the quantities listed here but I do good with our local Krogers. They have the variable amount cards from $25-$500. They are offering 4X fuel points this week. The big thing is making sure you can use the fuel perks. When I purchased cards for my DVC Dues I split them up across a couple of months so I could make best use of them.

All this seems like way too much work, lol! I just order scrips cards in $1000 denominations and call it a day. I have no problem carrying 3-4 cards around, but hundreds of them would never work for me. Is the savings that great that it is worth the hassle?

I saved $500 (bought $5000 worth of cards for $4500). Everyone is different, but in my book, this was worth it. It will almost cover my kennel bill for boarding my 2 dogs during our trip. I have heard about the scrips cards- is this through a fundraiser at one of your kids' schools? How do you get the scrips cards?
