Need to brag! Weight loss - not big but I like it!!

Since January 15th , i have been watching my portion sizes and calories and walking on the treadmill 3-4 times a week. I wasn't thinking about the weight loss and have been avoiding the scale. I started right at 240 and TODAY - I step up on that scale and it read 229!!! I was so happy!! I just need to duplicate it 5 more times and I will be set. I sleep better and feel better. My pants are just oh so much looser. It is coming off. I am so proud of my self. My next goal was 225 by March 17th and I think I get there sooner. I set 5 pound goals because they are easier to accomplish. Just needed to brag. My skinny hubby just does not get it. THanks for the ear(s)!!:woohoo: :woohoo:
 
Congratulations!! What type of plan/diet are you using if I may ask? Any fitness tips or beating the food cravings tips?

I am at the same weight and keep losing and gaining the same 3 pounds. Grrr!!

Way to go!!!! You are doing great!

Oh and I have a skinny Mr. Metabolism hubby as well. It is so hard to NOT eat when he is chomping on his bedtime snacks. popcorn::
 
WTG :banana: :cool1: :banana: that is awesome. The hard work is paying off. Making those small goals is the key for me too, if I look to far ahead it can get frustrating. Keep up the great work!!!:cheer2:
 

Brag away! You certainly deserve it! One of the ways I brag to myself about weight loss happens at the grocery store. I always go into the produce section and pick up bags of potatos that are equivalent to how much weight I've lost. It really puts it into perspective for me. When I'm holding all that extra weight I realize how far I've come and how much better I feel that I am not walking around with 3 5lb bags of potatos on my hips/butt/stomach.:rotfl2:

Now that you know my secret shame...get to the potato section! And, keep up the great work!
 
Just a couple good food tips that work for me. I discovered a bag of unsalted almonds at Walgreens ( 28 oz for 7.99) I put a handful in the little snack bags and have a couple in my purse and book bag. If I feel a twang of hunger I eat a handful. It is pure protien, does on spoil or make a mess, and it quelchesmy hunger long enough for me to make a better food choice rather than the first thing I see. 22 nuts = 4 pts on WW. I also make sure I eat breakfast. Either something full of protein or whole grain. I snack or eat every 3 hours. Today I am 228.4 !!! I am also making sure I drink at least 6 glasses of water a day and sometimes 8 or 10. I walk on my treadmill 3-4 times a week for 30-45 minutes and I make sure I get at least 7 hours of sleep. So far so good. Little changes make a big difference over time. Have a great week.

I feel your pain about the skinny hubby. Sometimes they just don't understand how we struggle with weight. My hubby is a skinny rear also. He thinks I should just stop eating snacks and I will loose weight. Simple huh? That is his theory. He has NO CLUE! Plus, then when I am really working hard to eat healthy, he goes along pretty good for a few days, then he starts complaining about chicken again? or cant we have french fries tonight? I swear sometimes he just doesn't get it. Oh well, I am trying to remind him and myself that even if he doesn't appreciate it now, even if he isn't overweight, I am extending his life as well as mine, and more veggies and less grease never hurt anyone!:goodvibes

The skinny hubby says, Just don't eat so much and that will work. I am over 50 and I think I could eat celery for a month and not lose a pound. I am just keeping my thoughts on the prize. Shorts in June. I keep doing the 30 minutes on the treadmill. It seems to be working slow but sure. Oh, he requested that I get him Lays SourCream and Onion Chips. he will eat an entire bag in one night. I get them for him and never touch them because I can not just eat one!

Sour cream and onion chips are the devil!!!! :headache: They are my absolute favorite. I've decided that the best thing is just to never keep them in the house, because no way can I eat a reasonable serving size.

I'm with you on the slowing metabolism, too. You're doing the right thing with the treadmill -- exercise combined with eating right is the only thing that works for me.....and it's very slow. But still, moving in the right direction. :)
