What does "a la cate" dinning mean? As I'm looking at various resorts for my honeymoon, I keep finding that dinner is a la carte....I'm so confused. Thanks for letting ask a stupid question.

a la carte

adj : (of a restaurant meal) having unlimited choices with a separate price for each item [ant: table d'hote] n : a menu having individual dishes listed with separate prices adv : by ordering items listed individually on a menu; "we ate a la carte"

Basically, not buffet syle.

From my understanding, which could be wrong, a la carte means a menu with items listed seperately with their prices.

Kind of like the Outback, I guess.

In many restaurants it means your entree won't come with a veggie and starch. These will be offered as seperate items and are usually large enough to share.

Thank you...I was feeling stupid not knowing.

Heck, don't feel stupid. I had to look it up to make sure myself.

What it means is you will be paying more for your dinner.:teeth:

Just what I was thinking Nancy.

Extra charge for baked potato, string beans, etc.

Hope restaurants never start charging extra for the silverware LOL.
