I try to make at least one trip a year to WDW and find that this only allows me to stay for 4 or 5 days in a moderate resort because of the cost of everything. I was hoping that some of you could give me tips on how to cut corners, get discounts on rooms etc. so that I could possibly stay at a Deluxe resort on my next trip!
TIA :goodvibes

When we've stayed in a deluxe I'd find a discount code on mousesavers, however I haven't seen one for over a year. I don't know why. A couple of times we went when there were no codes and stayed at a Mod, I like CSR best.

The best way DW and I save is to share meals, many places will even bring your split meal on separate plates....$15 to $20 meal usually has more food than we both can eat, so it works out good. We take turns who chooses.

It's hard to cut corners at WDW. We save, pay (room & passes), go, and pay off what we spend (while there), after we get home.

Look into AAA. IF you are a teacher or nurse, you can sometimes get a discount at the swan and dolphin. Keep checking for codes. Be willing to try AKL or WL.

The only times I've ever stayed at a Deluxe I've used A Disney Travel Agent (we use Small World Travel) I know some on here use others. They have access to the best deals at all times. For instance on this trip we're staying at the Poly for the first time. We are on the AP rate since we're buying AP's because we're going back in October and felt that was the best way to handle our tickets. Our original quote for 5 of us was $1918 _without the discount the room would have been more like $2100 or more. A couple of weeks ago I got an email from Denise (our agent) that our rate went down another $200 because of some discounts Disney just released. That's for a 7 night stay. I'm pretty happy because rates at the poly start at about $300 or more and we're paying about $244. Another thing to look at is which Deluxe do you want to stay at because not all are the same price. Of all the deluxe resorts, Wilderness Lodge is the least expensive and is actually one of our favorites. Last time we stayed there we got a really great rate and when we checked in they upgraded us to a room with a view. (Same Agent).

BTW, the agent we use is the one recommended on Mousesavers.

Hope this helps somewhat. :cheer2:

Rent points from a DVC member and you can stay at the Villas Wilderness Lodge, Saratoga Springs, Boardwalk Villas or Beach Club Villas...all for a pretty reasonable price (comparable to a moderate). You don't get maid service and it takes a bit of trust on those doing the transaction...AND you can't really cancel once you've committed yourself to the points, but it does get you in deluxe accomodations with less sticker shock.

Use a Disney Travel Agent and make some extra money by selling your junk on eBay :rotfl2: Gather up all the clothes, shoes, accesories, kid's toys, collectibles, etc. that you don't use and just sit collecting dust and sell them!
