It's been longer than 5 years since we have gone to WDW. What would be your top 5 tips you would give me for anything new that has happened since we first came yrs ago? Thanks so much in advance!

I have younger children....7,5,3....if that helps.

Read everything you can about FP+. Be prepared to make your FP+ reservations 60 days out if staying onsite, 30 days if not. There's tons of tips on other threads. Keep trying until you get what you want (that's my FP advice).

Think long and hard about DDP. If it's not a good fit, you'll probably save (or pay the same but get exactly what you want) paying OOP.

I'm a fan of driving in the parks if it's possible for you. Don't rent a car just to drive it around WDW, but if you would have a car anyway, use it, not the busses.

Planning will be more work than seems worth it. Certainly more work than 5 years ago. I guess you just have to go with it. You really don't have a choice if you want to do certain things in your trip.

Some new things will amaze you, some will be a letdown. These boards are full of opinions, but keep an open mind and come to your own conclusions.

I would say that visiting the parks these days seems to require more advanced planning than before.

  1. Use the crowd calendars at easywdw.com to pick your days.
  2. Use the cheat sheets at easywdw.com to plan your days.
  3. Read the first two posts of this thread: http://www.disboards.com/threads/fa...ed-priorities-and-strategies-part-ii.3326057/ for everything you need to know about fastpass.
  4. Don't stress out about stuff that people here tell you you should be stressed out about. It's a vacation - it's not a life or death situation.
  5. Seriously, don't stress out about this stuff. :)

1. Get to planning! Granted, I planned 5 years ago, but not as far in advance and more elaborate as I do now.

2. FP+. Whole new way of touring. Like PP stated, learn how to work it. Some love it, others hate it. Just go with an open mind and come to your own conclusions.

3. There really isn't a "slow" time anymore. Sure it isn't always Christmas break busy, but the old days of crowd levels 1 and 2 are gone. Yes, let's cry again ...:sad:

4. ADR's. You have to book using a CC now. People went cuckoo booking reservations at every place and never showing up so they had to curb the abuse. It's not a big deal, just something new. You can cancel your reservation anytime up to 24 hours before and will not be charged for a no-show. If you do no-show it's $10 a head.

5. Have fun! It can get overwhelming all the stuff you read. Planning is supposed to be part of the fun. If it stops being fun, take a break.
