Hello! Just following another thread about temps and how the weather is starting foggy/gloomy in the am's. We actually aren't coming until the 14th. So I realize weather can change in 1.5 weeks. But as it is now, do you find that you need a sweatshirt/light jacket in the mornings or in the evenings (like for Fantasmic/fireworks timeframe)?

Thanks!

I usually bring in a sweatshirt or light jacket with me no matter what time of year it is. The only time that I didn't bring one in with me I thought we were going to go back to the hotel during the day and we didn't and then I had to buy a sweatshirt for the night for both me and my daughter.

Yes, you will need a sweatshirt/jacket in the am or pm. The temp goes down once the sun sets....and if the marine layer is in it can be damp, too.
Keep in mind that most restaurants, etc have a lot of air conditioning.

July evenings and mornings tend to be pretty mild, but it's still a good idea to bring along an extra windbreaker just in case. Chilly is relative when you're exhausted, damp or still sleepy.

Here's a link to wunderground's trip planner. Enter your travel dates in the fields located on the right side of the screen and you'll get averages and daily records going back to 1995. What's really cool is that you can click on each day and see what the HOURLY temperatures were like! So you can see what the temps were before the park opens, mid-day, nighttime, etc.

Thanks so much everyone. I was so worried about it being so extremely hot in Mid July that I never thought of possibly needing a sweatshirt. Glad I thought to ask now instead of later! And thanks so much for the weather link KittySkyFish! That is awesome.

Well Howdy Neighbor!!! :) It's nice to *meet* someone from my area. It's not often to find someone on here from your own area. We do a lot of stuff in Allen!

You could always forget to bring it, but budget for a cute sweatshirt at the parks. :)

Yep! We have quite a few from our prior trips. :) Our favorites are ones with Goofy and Tigger, stitched with the year they were introduced. One trip we wore them (DH wore Goofy '37) and on the Candy Cane Inn shuttle, a woman read DH's Goofy sweatshirt and said "Was that the year YOU were BORN?" Her husband's expression was priceless!!! My husband isn't NEARLY that old!! :lmao::lmao:

We visited WDW when we lived in Tampa but now that we're in Texas and have the ability to visit either park, we prefer Disneyland! It's like our 2nd home. :)

We just got back from the park tonight. It is 60 degrees with a very light wind. None of us had a light jacket or sweatshirt, but we all could have used one! We will take them tomorrow!

Went last Tuesday and both DD10 and I used our light weight jackets/sweater in the a.m. (esp.on the tram) and in the evening. DD complained that she wished she had worn longer pants since her legs got cold as well.

We just carry ours around with us so we don't have to go back to the car but many leave them in their vehicles.

And yes, you can definitely buy a s.shirt while there. I see a lot of tourists with their new shirts on as the evening progresses. So Cal can get really cold at night. It's the dampness, just seems to seep into your bones!;)

Also remember that if you plan to be in the parks all day (8am - 12mid) you might consider renting a lockers ($8?) for a change of clothes (jeans, sweatshirts) for the much cooler evenings. Once the sun sets and the winds picks up it can get pretty chilly.

DD is adamant that she doesnt want me to pack a sweatshirt - I've snuck one in the case without her knowing though!

It's funny, because I feel it as a desert, that it's dry, and that's why it's cold. It just feels very different from the cold up here in WA, which is definitely damp. :)

See, she's obviously angling for a "mom I'm freezing, can I have that awesome $60 sweatshirt" moment. ;) But since it can take a few days to find The Perfect Sweatshirt (or hoodie), it's best to have some sort of warm clothes in the meantime, so you're probably making a good decision.

For me, even though I'm used to colder days and nights up here, I still get cold there because it can be SO warm during the day. But once the sun goes down the temperature plummets (it's more gradual up here, it seems), and it's the *difference* that chills me. So i almost always need to have something warm once the sun goes down.

I'm thinking of bringing a sweatshirt and pair of shorts in the morning and getting a locker. When it warms up I can put the sweatshirt in the locker and change into the shorts. Then in the evening I can go back to sweatshirt and jeans.
