Need Suggestions

I am needing suggestions for a moderate 3 star hotel for our trip to US/IOA for an early October trip. The onsite hotels are a bit steep for our trip and the adcice I have gotten is that we really dont need express passes and that would be the only reason for us to stay onsite, so the question is where to stay off site? There is just my DS11, Dh and myself. Help!

The Doubletree just outside the Universal entrance has a great location. You might want to consider that one if you like that chain. It really depends on where you prefer to be located and how nice you want your resort to be.

Walking distance to the parks would be great and prefer not to pay for parking.
