My hubby and I will be staying at OKW in late August and in the past have only eaten at counter service restaurants (with the exception of Whispering Canyon). We are poor college students and going to Disney on my parents DVC points. This time we want to try a 'few' moderatly priced sit down places instead of all the usual counter service places.

We plan on eating dinner at Olivia's at least one night since we'll be staying there but need some more suggestions for a cheaper sit down place to eat (or some higher priced counter service places).

TIA!

Study the menus on allearsnet.com. They list prices and the date on which the menu was updated. Also, read the restaurant reports on this board...at some restaurants, the portions are said to be huge, and at others, the portions are said to be laughably small.

Also, think about whether you will get your "moneys' worth" from a buffet. I can eat at a nice breakfast buffet and not want to eat again until 4 pm. My kids just can't do that - they eat the "normal" amount (i.e. about $1 worth of food) and then want to eat again in 2 hours.

you should also consider picking up the DDE card everyone is getting, 20% off almost all the nice places, might help you out! :cool1:

Trails end at fort wilderness is the least expensive and in my opinion the best all you can eat buffet on property. Its just a quick boat ride from the Magic Kingdom making it a good alternative to lunch or dinner at MK.

two places come to mind - LUNCH at Chefs de France. They have a french menu (set) that is around $15.00 for app., entree, and dessert.

And I think the Cape May buffet is wonderful for the price. Lots of food, pleasant atmosphere.

The easiest way to save lots of money at WDW is to skip the drinks. They charge a lot for drinks and they have very little alcohol in them. Pick up some beer or wine at a liquor store in Orlando and look forward to a cold one when you get home to OKW.

Since you are staying in the Epcot area I'll make a couple suggestions in that general area.

Some people really like Beaches and Cream - other people have described it as being similar to Friday's or Appleby's.

If you like sports - ESPN may be a good choice.

In Epcot the German buffet (Biergarten, I believe it is called) could be a fun choice. We ate once at the Morroco restaurant, it was fun and moderately priced.

I agree with a previous post - check the allearsnet.com site for various menus.

I'm feelin your situation. When I took DH (back then he was DBF) for his first WDW trip, we were poor college students. At MK, I suggest Plaza Restaurant. We loved this place and it was definitely a good deal. At Epcot we had Marrakesh which was moderately priced and the atmosphere was great. We also love Tempura Kiku/Matsonoma Lounge if you like Japanese food. Teppanyaki is a bit higher in price if you want hibachi, but if you like sushi or tempura TK or ML is the place to go.

good luck! Even on a tight budget, it IS possible to enjoy WDW if you spend your $$ wisely and make the most out of your trip. Have a great time :flower:
