We just returned from our first stay onsite and we're hooked. Now we have talked the in-laws into going back with us and staying onsite, they usually stay in condos.

We will have a group of 10 that includes: MIL, FIL, SIL, 3 nephews 8, 6 and 4, me, DH, DD 12 and DS 9.

MIL and FIL go to Florida about 3 times a year and are willing to purchase AP's if that will help with discounts. We are hoping to travel the first week of June 2005.

Of course saving money will be a priority. Any suggestions for which resort would be the best deal for us with a group of that size? We would like to stay in Moderate or better.

Thanks.

I believe that you can rent up to three rooms with one annual pass. As to accomodations that's up to you...You could get 3 Value rooms, and go low cost. Some Moderates (POR) can sleep 5, but you would have to really think about that one re: a trundel bed. Also the Deluxes sleep 5. I think you might want to be close to the action, but that's going to cost $$$. POR is very nice moderate with a great pool for the kids. You might even consider getting 3 rooms there. POFQ is susposed to be great too...smaller, and another great pool.

You might also consider renting a Stuido and a 2 BRM through a DVC owner on the rental board (361pts) or a 3 Brm for (501) points at Old Key West for the 1st week in June generally $10-11 a point(points needed varies according to size, time, and place). The DVC properties and layouts can be viewed through Allearsnet.com, check accomodations. This is alot more expensive, but there would be a W/D in the 2 Brm, as well as a full kitchen. The Studio will have a small fridge. They are going to put a pool slide in at OKW this fall.

Final suggestion is don't overlook SOG...check on Mousesavers.com and see if retired military qualify. I'm not sure, but with that many people, perhaps someone served in the armed forces.
Have fun planning:wave2: :sunny:

Are you all looking to stay together or separate.

There are many options..............

--getting 3 rooms at a value or moderate

--FW cabins each sleep 6, so you could get 2 of those - they have full kitchens - 1 bath

--renting points for DVC units - either 3 studios, which each have a kitchenette, 2 studios & 1 1BR which has a full size kitchen (each of these sleep 4) or 1 studio and 1 2BR, which has a full kitchen & 2 baths (sleeps 8). Of course, you could always rent a grand villa which sleeps 12!!!

Do your homework & check into what would be the best thing to do price wise. Check out the Rent/Trade Board & ask a lot of questions. If you know when you want to stay the owners will let you know how many points you would need for that time & in different accommodations. The points rent for an average of $10/point & there is no tax if you rent from a DVC owner.

We could go either way, together or separate. No matter what we do, we will split the lodging 3 ways. Only problem is that my SIL is a single mom and would probably appreciate the help of staying with her mom so she might no be too excited about the idea of 3 rooms.

I'll check on renting DVC points, that sounds like a good option.

If you stay in 3 rooms at a moderate, you can request that 2 of the rooms be adjoining rooms so your SIL can get some help.

But, I'm with the other posters - I'd check into renting points at DVC. We own at BWV and it is just so nice and convenient to Epcot (walking distance) and MGM. This may be a more expensive option though - I don't know if that is an issue for you. Research what it would cost you to rent points for the week you want to go and watch for the AP rates for that period at a moderate and compare.
