Ok Gang. Here's the challenge. Our family is planning the super duper graduation disney celebration of 2006 :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :bounce: DD graduates from High School and DS from Middle School and they want to go to Disney.

I have been enticed by the Disney Dining monster and think that for our family--it's a hit! :worship: DD and DH are somewhat picky eaters, but love WDW food, DS is a bottomless pit and I am very flexible. I'll eat just about anything once (and the good things more than once :earboy2: )

Since we went last time with vouchers, meals were a snap. Without vouchers next summer, the dining plan seems to be the only option (plus, I can pay for it with my package and don't need excess money for the actual trip).

Just looking for some reassurance that it's the right thing to do. The package things just seems more expensive than just doing everything separately. I swore we'd never drive again, but I'm afraid we may have to next summer.

Thanks in advance for any help and tips.

I've never used the Dining Plan, but there's lots of people who really like it. The hitch is that you get two REALLY large meals (one counter service and one table service) and one snack instead of three meals each day. I've read that the added cost is $35/day/adult for dining. Here is a link with information: http://www.allearsnet.com/pl/packages05.htm

Also, you can book the dining package through AAA in order to get the AAA discount on the room portion of the package.

Some people report having difficulty getting into the sit-down restaurants if they haven't already made reservations, so PS's seem to be in order. But with older kids, it sounds like a good deal.

We are using the dining plan this year and it works out to a GREAT deal for us! In disney my boyfriend can literally eat all day long lol! Last year we spant 150+ :sad2: a day on food because he wantd to do sitdown dinners w/ apps entree and dessert every night!!!! So it depends on your eating habits.

The good thing is since the points are pooled you can split a meal one day if not so hungry and use it the next day for a sig restaraunt or use the kids points for yourself and pay out of pocket for them. If Big breakfasts aren't your thing and you can get a way with a light one...then have a big lunch at a counter service place then a snack and a BIG sit down then this plan is for you!

We have a similar situation planned for next year. We will have DS graduating from high school and DD obtaining her college degree. This helps us with our plans, too.

I was always a big fan of booking everything separately to save money but now with MYW and the dining plan- packages are much more attractive than they used to be. I say - go for the package if it looks like it makes sense for your family.
