I need suggestions for a sit down dinner at a resort - any resort - 4 adults, 4 children. Buffets are okay.
We don't want to do Ohana or Boma, or 1900 Park Fare as we have reservations for those later on in the vacation.
I have no idea where to schedule dinner for our arrival day. Trying to get in as many new places this trip as possible.

Thanks fellow disers!

I would suggest Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club.

I would suggest Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club.

going to allears to look at the menu! :thumbsup2

eating at different resorts also gives me a good notion of what the other resorts are like. We're not doing a park the day we arrive, so dinner has to be at a resort.

We've enjoyed the Turf Club Grill at Saratoga Springs.

Another good one since you have children is Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness Lodge.

Voting for Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club.

Best food and service that we had the last trip...hands down.
Best items we enjoyed were ceasar salad, crab cakes, roast chicken, onion tart.

The table next to us had crab legs and they looked amazing..huge pile.

After dinner, you can walk around the Boardwalk (take the boat across the water or walk) and you can also watch the EPCOT fireworks. If you have extra time, take the boat for a nice roundtrip tour around the resorts and parks. Nice first night of vacation.

Kona Cafe or Whispering Canyon. The food at Kona is better but there is more action for the kids at Whispering Canyon.

I was going to post the same question! We were thinking of trying Cape May of Whispering Canyon so it looks like we're on the right track.:wizard:

As I said to the OP, we like Cape May Cafe -- lots of choices for everyone (and they've put crab legs back on the menu). Personally, we didn't like WCC and won't go back (the service was awful and the food wasn't much better; but everyone has their own tastes, expectations, etc.). Look at the menu and see which one appeals to you most.

I would suggest Whispering Canyon Cafe. It was a lot of fine the times we ate there. Depending on your kids ages they will love it.

flying fish on the boardwalk has really good food. a plus is that you can see everything on the boardwalk as well so it's a little more than just dinner. there are other boardwalk area places to eat as well as the resorts that circle the lake there. it's also the kind of place that adults will like but you can still feel comfortable taking the kids.

Another vote for Kona Cafe. Not a lot of atmosphere, kind of diner-like setting, but the food was good and they have fun desserts. Really convenient from MK by monorail. We tried it for the first time last trip and my kids begged to go back. If they still have it, there is a fun dessert that is a big waffle ice cream come with cotton candy and other goodies that is probably the reason my kids want to return.

Jiko will knock your socks off, although more expensive. On the moremoderate side, I would agree that Kona is very good. It is our traditional arrival day first meal.

T-rex at DTD is pretty good, it is also a fun night out. Stopping by the the LEGO store there makes it even more fun...Though it is kind-a a gimmy you will spend an extra 100$ you did not anticipate by entering the doors. Also Wofgang Puck Express, although being a QS is a sit down and SUPPPPPPER good. Ate there yesterday and thinking about going back again for more.
If you are not on the dining plan, Fulton's Crab house is good too. (A little less kidish and a little more $$ though.)

Chef Mickey is a great way for the kids to meet the characters right off the bat. The quality of the food is not the best, but we found it to be ok and the dessert bar was great.

We all liked Kona, but if you are doing Ohana it might be repetitive.

WCC has great entertainment, especially for a group.
