We have used our Disney Visa for years, but after driving back Sat (12 hour trip that turned into over 14 because of traffic) DH wants to fly next time. We are a family of 7 and that really adds up.
We don't have any budget carriers near us so I was looking to switch my cc to one that gives cash back as an option and then I can just bank that towards airline costs when we go again. I think we only have Delta, US Airways and Allegiant that fly out of our home airport.
Anyone have a good card to recommend?

Amex blue preferred. 6% back at groceries up to $6K in spending. There are other bonus categories. Annual fee is $75. I think there's a sign up bonus of $150. They also have tons of great offers (e.g., spend $30 at Exxon, get $5 back).

If you upgrade your Disney Visa to the preferred card, you can use your points on airline tickets, any airline. Just did this and they basically just credit it back to your account.

It's $50 for the premier, but you get 2% at groceries, gas, and restaurants. If you spend more than $5,000 a year (figure $100 groceries per week!) then it more than pays for itself.

Ditto.

The AmEx preferred is my fa vorite. Hard to beat 6% on groceries and 3% on gas year round.

I also rotate in the Chase Freedom and Discover for 5% on gas and 5% on restaurants for parts of the year.

Yes, I'll be using Chase Freedom for gas in the 3rd quarter. Everything but groceries, gas, and travel goes on my Capital One Quick Silver card (1.5%).

I believe that the Fidelity Amex earns 2% with no fee.

The BarclayCard World Traveller MC has an effective $440 sign up bonus and earns 2.2% (both when redeemed for travel) with an $89 fee after the first year--Suzanne

We have the Fidelity Amex card........2 percent on everything.

24/7/365

No games, no category changes, no limits on cash back, no annual fee.

Thanks everyone for these suggestions. I will look into them :thumbsup2

I have the capital one *********** card too...1.5% on everything. I earned enough booking our flights/tickets to buy a new suitcase for the trip that I needed to buy anyways....now it's free :)

What about signing up for at least 1 card each (2 if you can do one business and 1 personal each)?
You would get 40K miles of travel on USAir for $89 [annual fee]. You also get one companion pass you can use to purchase 2 $99 fares per year.
So for your large family, that could be 80K miles to use on 3 tickets, then $398 for the 4 companion fares.
$396 4x $99 companion fares
$178 [2 annual fees]
=$574. Assuming the other 3 of you could fly for 80K miles, that seems like a great deal for your first trip, and you would get the cheap companion passes each year.

The companion fares requiring a purchased ticket equal to at least $250. That adds at least $500 to the travel costs. -- Suzanne

You can't use points with the companion fares? I'll stick with Southwest for myself then; no help to OP, unfortunately, as she can't use SW.

This! Plus with Discover you get 1% cashback on all your purchases. They have the ShopDiscover Mall - save 5%-20% shopping through their links. They have started Discover Extras that are automatically credited to your account. I ordered something on sale through their link, got my cashback email and then got my Extra email for a $10 credit!

I love AMEX offers. You have to accept the offers, but once you use your card the credit is auto applied to your account. I find the offers to typically be in the 20% range if you maximize them.

Companion passes are going away after this year.

We use Amex Blue Cash that has no annual fee. 3% groceries, 2% gas, 1% everything else.
