Hi all!

In July I will be taking my 13yo nephew to Florida. We're going to spend most of our time at WDW, with a day at Discovery Cove, a day at SeaWorld and the Marine Mammal Keeper Experience at SeaWorld.

Since this is our first trip together (without his brothers and sister) and my first trip with a teenager, is there any advice you can give me on making sure he has a good time? Is there anything I can do to make it extra special? Is there anything I should not do?

Thanks!

Is he into roller coasters? If he is, then he would probably enjoy most of the major thrill rides. If he is into video games, then he would also like Disney Quest. As for sea World, the last times I was there was a few years ago, and all it was was all animal shows and two rides. The only ride I went on was Journey to atlanits, which was awesome. The other ride i don't know anything about. As for the other places you mentioned, I have never been to any of them so I can't help you there. But no matter what you the two fo you do together, you'll both have a great time!

im also 13 and personally i think Sea World is boring. if he likes roller costers then u should probably go to test track, space mountain, and rockin roller coaster and i heard mission space was good but i havent been on it yet im going some time this summer most likely in July. but as disney angel said if he likes video games he would probably like disney quest but that costs extra and if he likes like comedy then there is a club at down town disney that younger ppl can go to its called the adventures club its really funny and cool i really liked it but its late at night i cant really think of anything eles right now but when i do ill post it

Thanks for your posts!

Actually, he really loves animals and the whole reason we are going to Florida is for SeaWorld and Discovery Cove. I'm the one who can't go to Florida without going to WDW. :teeth:

I'm glad to hear you liked the adventurer's club. I've still haven't been there yet and was hoping it was something that was appropriate to bring him to!

Thanks again!

well if he really loves animals you definattly have to go to the Animal Kingdom and go on the safari's and i like the behind the scenes tours they were really fun

Hey to a fellow Mainer...marking only the second I've found on the boards....!!

I just have to say I was not that impressed with Animal Kingdom...but the tigers WERE really cute...but it was SO crowded...and I'm not into crowds! Test track and mission space were both good, but nothing like...intense...I love WDW but if he likes bigger rides, Universal and Islands of Adventure were awesome. At MGM, Tower of Terror and Rock'n'Roller coaster were good too. Seaword was great, but I think I would have enjoyed it much more if I hadn't been to the one in Cali. But, still, it was great. I agree that Journey to Atlantis was awesome. I didn't go to any of the places in downtown disney...basically just walked around one afternoon. I'm sure you're gunna have an AWESOME time no matter what you do, I had the time of my life(and it wasn't that bad, escaping the snow when I went!!)

sea world has the kraken which is a wicked floorless roller coaster. Disney has tons of kool rides. and i have not been to the otheres but i have heard u can swim with dalphines(sp) in discovery cove

i think that no matter what you do you will both have a lot of fun. i know it sounds corny, but seriously, there is just this "atmosphere" that will make you have fun there! :teeth:

The biggest piece of advice I could give you is involve your nephew in the planning for your holiday as much as you can. I am hoping to do the marine mammal keeper experience next year and I've already done the trainer for a day program and it was excellent so you should both have a blast! Also ask him to pick a couple of the resteraunts where you are going to eat dinner. I love the rainforrest cafe, 50s prime time cafe and and sci-fi dine in. Since he likes animals you could book dine with shamu at seaworld :)

Hope I could help

Thanks for all the advice! I really appreciate it.

Big rides won't be a problem. I'm not a ride weenie and in fact, he and I do the "big" coaster here together, over and over again - usually in the front.

I knew about the 7 day pass for SeaWorld - thanks for reminding me though, I had forgotten to take out the SeaWorld day in my budget though.

I have a general schedule for what we're doing, but any decisions are his to make. When it's time to make a decision on this or that, he gets to choose.

Actually, I have two more questions:

Question #1.) If I have a limo pick us up at the airport to take us to our hotel - is that doing too much or trying to hard? I'm taking each of my nieces/nephews to Florida seperately. Just a one on one trip and I want to make it special for them. Since their parents would never do a limo, I thought it might be something we could do. What do you think?

Question #2.) What was the most embarassing thing your parents did at the parks?

The last time we went we did the limo thing from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to Port Canaveral (we were doing the land and sea package). It was pretty cool. If he's never been in a limo before, ask him if that is what he wants to do.

Limos=awesome! last time i id that, it just enhanced the trip that much more...something about arriving to your hotel in style! haha

i dont get embarrassed easily so i cant answer your second question...i didnt get embarrassed. i skipped down Main Street in tigger ears with my bro in mickey ears...it was fun:Pinkbounc

A limo sounds like fun, I'd love to do that. The most embarrasing thing that my parents have done is making me have my picture taken with the characters when there were cute boys about :p

i think a limo ride would be cool and the only thing that really embarrasses me about my mom is that she doesnt die her hair so she really never did ne thing that embarrsed me in the parks
