Lauri hasn't been posting very much on the boards lately because she hasn't been feeling very well. In fact, she said lately she's felt the worst she has ever felt.

Most of you know what's wrong with her, but for those who don't -- 3 years ago Lauri was diagnosed with Still's Disease. It's an autoimmune disorder along the same lines as lupus. Basically, her white blood cells attack her joints like they're a disease, which puts her in a lot of pain. Unlike lupus, Still's occurs less frequently in the population, so the drug companies don't do a lot of research into cure and treatments. Sometimes meds designed for other diseases can help, but not everyone responds the same to each med.

The past few weeks the pain has gotten worse and worse to the point where she can hardly move at times. Even when Reilly, our 12 lb. poodle, jumps up on her it hurts.

If you can spare any prayers and pixie dust, we could certainly use a lot of it here.

Thanks in advance and thanks for listening.

Super gentle, wisp-like hugs to Lauri.

We miss her quick wit here on the boards.

:(

Mathew...

I am so sorry to hear this. Please send Lauri our love and tell her never to give up, but that it's also okay to take a break from listening to too much advice!! I'm going to the internet right now to do some research on her disease; have you looked into immunoglobulin treatments yet? Since Rachel's disease has an autoimmune component this just came to mind, but I'm going to look into some articles. Meanwhile, I know how frustrating and horrible it is to see someone you love suffer, so try to pour that energy into learning as much as possible (get a Medscape subscription if you don't already have one) and maybe connecting with others who share the same issues. Don't forget to take care of yourself too.

Roger and I will keep Lauri in our prayers as she has been for quite a while. From one family who knows the power of prayers to another, we know that they are listened to. Lauri, we wait for the news that your strength is gaining...and Matt, from one caregiver to another - lean on others, for we have lots of shoulders to lean on. Caroline

Matt and Lauri,
I will be thinking of both of you and praying that Lauri feels better soon.
this has been hard for her and you, I can't imagine how she is suffering. I only hope our prayers are answered and Lauri has some relief of those symptoms soon. Peggie

Lots of prayers and positive thoughts for Lauri, and you too Matt.

Sometimes, it is just so difficult to understand why someone we love has to go through so much pain. But God is so very loving and he makes no mistakes. We just have to use these times to be strengthened, knowing how much He loves us and wants us to trust Him. As it says in His word, "Lean not unto your own understanding, but in all they ways acknowledge Him, and He shall bring it to Pass."

So just know that He is God, and let him be God Through this time of trial. I believe He will use Laurie to edify Himself, using Laurie and you, as a testimony to His word.

May you both be blessed, and may HE be Glorified,
Winnie

Lauri, We are sending major pixie dust your way!!! I
know we have talked in the past and you know how
much I know what you are going thru!!! It is beyond
hard!!! It is a struggle each day yet we look ok on
the outside.

I really am thinking of you and take it easy. It was
really nice that they found some sites for you that might
shed some additional information. The more information
the better, then you test different things and see what
works best for you.

Some things that have helped me:
(I do not have Still's, but I do have another type of
immune disorder that we get almost the same exact
type of syptoms, I think it is the blood test that decides
the extent before hitting the Lupus diagnosis).

Wheat Grass (must be fresh squeezed) and drank
within the first 10 minutes - this was a natural
alternative. It helps build back your white blood
cells and works hard on the immune system. We
did see a difference especially in our blood tests. :)
(Make sure you check with your doctor & pharm.
to make sure you can take it with the other meds
you might be taking!!) That is important!! I did
this everyday for 3 months and I did see a difference.

I did have 10 cordozone shots when I was in some
of my bad times. I had this done only 2 times during
my 3 years. But I could not take the pain. The shots
hurt (put ice on them) for a couple of days, but then
it was such relief and gave me time to get my act together
to go at it again.

Lauri & Matt, we want you just to know that we are
thinking of you and we also have heard that there are
some additional studies that are being done in John Hopkins
Hospital in Maryland and in Arizona University with immune
disorders. There are quite a few and they have so many
similarities.

We look forward to reading posts that you are feeling better
please let us know. Rest and take some warm baths and we
hope things turn around this weekend for you.

Please feel free to call me or email ANYTIME!!!!

Hugs,
Dana, Michael, Justin and Brittany :)

hope you will soon be better Lauri !!
lots of pixie dust coming over the ocean !!!

Stephan

You know that you are in ALL of our thoughts down here all the time...and you are always in our prayers...I just wish you were closer so we could help more in person..

We love you, and maybe some of the suggestions her can help, Big hugs from all of us down here.

and tons of PD your way...

I will be praying and thinking of Laurie but I thought I would add a note you can stick somewhere as a positive thought:

Laurie,
I never ever get on chat without thinking of you. The wonderful thing about typing is your imagination can soar....I love the way you always danced. You had the swish and twirl down pat and you did so right into my thoughts.......dancing around the room in chat was so memorable that I miss it everyweek. You probably really didn't dance then and definitely don't want to now but I am sure in your dreams you dance and swirl around so beautifully that you would give those disney princesses a run for their money.

Plus, I am glad to say you never bonked me on the head but you were very good at getting the others in line.....we are still good even though you aren't there as moderator, like a mom you have taught us to be good even when you aren't around....except maybe Ed but that is a different story........

Prayers that you will get well and someday we get to meet in Disneyworld! (I still need to do those 80 pin trades!)

Hugs to Matt and lots of pixie dust for Lauri (I'd hug Lauri, but I wouldn't want it to hurt). Here's hoping that something can be found soon to help.

Gentle hugs to you Lauri.
I will continue to keep you and Matt in my prayers!

Sending lots of good thoughts and gentle {{{hugs}}} to the Davis house. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Lauri.

Matthew you know I always ask for Lauri in chat. Just got back from a few days away, sending best wishes and pixie dust to Lauri.

Wish I could take away the hurt.

Karin

Sandy and I keep Lauri in our thoughts and prayers daily. We just wish there was more we could do... :D :D :D Hang in there... You are one of the strongest willed people I have ever met. You can and will come out on top of this.
