Dh said to look for a good price for a flight to MCO for the May long weekend and perhaps we would take the Friday off and have a whirlwind 'budget' Disney long weekend since we have our AP's already.... have to squeeze as much use out of them as we can according to him...... nearly fell off my chair when he told me that!!

So I've got an AP rate for all star sports for 4 nights for $330 incl tax - now I'm having a tough time finding a flight - found $69 leaving at 8pm from BUF on Air tran on the Thursday night - how much travelling time do I need to leave myself to get to BUF from Guelph? Have never flown from the US before..... not sure if we might be better off to fly out very early in the morning on the 18th (fri)

Having a tough time finding a decent price on a flight home on the 21st. Anyone have a crystal ball to know if a good Ding will come out again?? Room is on hold until the 18th of Apr. So I have 1 week to find a decent price on a flight if we're going to do this!!

:scared1: have never planned a trip on the fly like this before but it's ds' 13th birthday on June 3rd and I'd love to have him celebrate it in Disney even if it is a few weeks before it.

Southwest has some $69 flights on the Thursday and one on the Friday. On the way home there is a $69 early morning flight on Monday or if you work half a day Friday and leave at 4:40 and take Tuesday off instead you would have a few cheap flights to choose from.

I do think that a ding will come out. That is the time I went last year and got 6 flights for $49 each.

I was going to suggest Southwest also.

As far as the time, you would probably be best to check it out on Mapquest, but for my 2 cents: My DD goes to UofG and we are in St. Catharines, which is between about 1 hour and 1 hour and 15 minutes away. We in St. Catharines are about 40 minutes from the Buffalo Airport, soooo to be on the safe side I would say you need 2 hours and then tack on 15 minutes for crossing the border (depending on the time of day). You can check online before you leave to see what the wait times are like.

Hope that helps!

From Kitchener I am 2 hours door to door to the BUF airport. I would do the Thursday night so that when you wake up on the Friday you are "park ready". We often do what you are (in 3 weeks in fact) and flying in on the Thursday evening with SWA, arriving in MCO at 7. We are taking half a day off on Thursday.

I have also often taken the Friday a.m. flight--its great to get there early...I just find that by early evening we are wiped and we end up losing valuable park time (with just a long weekend every hour counts!)

a $50 ding came out Monday and I'm kicking myself for not getting it in time - by the time I found it and called to check resort availability and price - went back to grab it and it was gone :sad2:

Dh has said if one comes up again to just grab it. I sure am hoping one does come!!

I see there is a flight at 4:40 on Thurs, but coming back on Monday the only flight for 69 is a very early flight. Why not take an early flight on Fri morning and come home early on Tues morning???
You could even purchase the flight at the higher rate and hope it comes down, as you can change your flight around and just have the money sit there as a credit towards your next flight.

I didn't look at Jet Blue but sometimes they have good pricing although they aren't direct flights.

When did you book your room? I booked PC this past week and tried for CAA and AP rate, but nothing was available at either PC or AS. After reading your post last night, I tried again this morning, but still nothing available. Either you got lucky, or they're requiring a minimum 4-day ressie. Mine is only 3.

This was on Monday that we put the room on hold - all they had available was ASSp for the dates we wanted.

Still playing around with flights - when dh says to book something I'm not about to wait around for him to change his mind!! I WILL find a good flight!!

A Southwest Q now..... if SW is showing all of the 2 lower rates of flights booked up for the Friday does that mean I don't have a hope of getting a ding for that day??

Have found lots of $69 flights coming home on the Tuesday but nothing going there under $112 PP on either the Thurs or Fri.

I doubt it, but you never know! Interesting, though, how are you finding $112 flights on Southwest? I'm showing $69 departing from Buffalo on Thursday and $170 on Friday. We're flying out of Detroit on the 18th as those were the only times that worked for my wife's schedule, plus it was a DING. They still have not bad prices ($79) and a lot of options open if that would work for you. The only bad thing for us is the 4-hour drive each way.

The $112 flight was actually with Air Tran.

Will keep looking - I'm sure something will come up!

I live in Waterloo and just got home yesterday. When we left a few weeks ago, it took less than the expected 2 hours driving time but the traffic was light with virtually no wait at the Lewiston border crossing. Once at the airport, it took the best part of an hour to do self-check-in curbside, get through security and to our gate. I never allow for less than 2 hours once I get to the airport. Anything less is outside my personal comfort zone.

Good to know - thanks!

Still flopping back and forth between going and not going - sigh. Waited too long and I'm talking myself into getting the Central Air for the house rather then going to Disney for a weekend :sad2: :scared1:

Still looking for a good flight though!!

DING for you! It's Buf to Tampa. Total for 1 person is $157.70.

Missed that one - going to have to sit glued to my computer for the next few days!!

Are you willing to drive to Detroit instead? It'd be about 4 hours drive from Guelph (we're about half anf hour from London and it takes us 3 hours). When I downloaded Ding there was nothing Buffalo-Orlando but lots of Detroit-Orlando.

Good luck! Sending lots of 'dingy' vibes. LOL
