My family will be going on our first DVC trip in a week. We are using points for SSR and OKW. We are purchasing the dining pkg and also purchasing hopper passes. My question is.... since we have never used our DVC yet, are there any other costs I need to be thinking about? I know we don't want to pay extra for maid service ( wont really need it) I know we get our towel service included, we will be having a few groceries delivered, so we will need money for that. It just seems like I am missing something. I am so used to paying out of pocket for everything :) Any help would be greatly appreciated>

Well, you've covered room (DVC), some restaurant meals (dining plan) and park admission (hoppers). You will need money for groceries (breakfast, some non-meal plan snacks, extra detergent...), any alcoholic beverages you might choose to have (not covered by meal plan either) and tips (bell services, Mousekeeping). I think you've got it pretty well covered, assuming you can fit your eating habits into the dining plan (not for us, but others love it). I wouldn't worry about extra mousekeeping, assuming you keep the place pretty neat; we have never needed any additional cleans on any of our many DVC trips. YMMV.

Good luck! Enjoy your first trip home!

If you valet park, you'll have tips there (if you valet at DVC resorts- VWL, BCV, BWV).

It is real nice to check out and not have any lodging costs on your bill.

Another reminder to bring lots of $$s for necessary souvenears! :rotfl:

There is not tax on the room or anything like that if you are worried about that.
Typical Expenses
Tips-valet,bell services, waitstaff(if you feel you want to tip more than the 18% covered in the plan), and mousekeeping(personal choice-I think most people do tip).
Additional food expenses
Souviners
Emergency medical money(can be a credit card and insurance card)
Transportation expenses-taxi or rental car
entertainment expenses-boat rental etc

I my case $400-500 would cover all these items. But if you left off entertainment you could probably do with $150-300

First of all, WELCOME HOME!!! Next, you'll need some cash for tips, some cash for misc. items, some cash for food/drink not in your DDP and finally some cash for emergencies. Just in case money. Just cause you have it doesn't mean you have to spend it. We usually take around $1000.00. Enjoy your first trip home!!!!
