Need some help with DVC points and DCL

Here is the gist.

Use year is in October. Have points for resie at Califonia Adventure in May 2009. We want to cancel this reservation and use the points for a cruise in October 2009. How does this work? Since they are part of the disney collection and no longer points good for DVC stays, how would this work with the start of a new use year in October and wanting to take a vacation on DCL in October instead of using the points at California Adventure in May.

What are the restriction on these points since they are no longer DVC points and are reservation points?

I believe reservation points will expire at the end of the use year they are from. So if these are from October 08 they will expire the end of September 2009. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong....

Reservation Points cannot be used at any of the DVC resorts and cannot be banked. They will expire at the end of the current Use Year - in this case September 30, 2009. They cannot be used for a reservation beyind that date, so October won't work.

They can be used for anything in the Disney Collection , Concierge Collection, Adventure Collection, and Adventures by Disney (remember there will be another $95 charge for most reservations). They can't be used for the World Passport Collection.
