Hey DVCers,
I was listening to Len Testa on WDW Today talk about his experience recently with bus service at SSR/THV. He was talking about how bad it is. Does anyone else have any thoughts on the matter? Are the busses now stopping in THV too? I was under the impression they were stopping at the regular SSR stops but not stopping at THV.

Help!! I am now wondering if I should be getting a car.

Thanks!!!

We've stayed at SSR 3 times over the past 3 years. The bus service has not worked out well for us. Waits seem to be inordinately lengthy and, because the resort is so large, the buses are often crammed full of folks. Perhaps we have just hit rough spots; visits were not at busy seasons like summer and holiday.

I believe we would rent a car on a return trip.

I believe that the folks staying at the THV are ferried up to one of SSR's major bus stops; I don't think they have direct service to the parks from THV.

I thought thv was ferried too but the trip report sounded different. Anyone return recently?

While we stayed in February and can't tell you how it is with THV, we had a mixed experience with buses. We stayed at the Paddock and once we realized that it was better to go directly from our room and not the Springs it was okay. From the Springs, we waited an hour for a bus because it was overcrowded - and there was a CM there which we couldn't figure out why they didn't just call another bus? Coming back from the Parks buses were great. Hope this helps. If we had dining reservations in the early am or at night we did take a taxi to make sure we got there on time. We figured a taxi was cheaper than a car.

We were there in June (right before THV openeded) and we had awesome bus service. DH and I commented on it almost everyday. We had one lengthy wait (about 20 min) at HS but other than that it was within minutes of getting to the bus stop.

We were there with three kids under the age of 5 in February..............while we like being at the first stop so we can get a seat and first stop when we get back (I believe it's Grandstand section)...........we wound up driving as the parking is free and it's just hard to get all the stuff for the kids on the bus and then sit for the better part of 20-25 minutes.

All information I've heard and read is that there is an internal bus for THV guests that takes them to one of the main stops (Springs perhaps?) to catch the park busses. The park busses themselves do not go into the THV area.

THV guests are taken to the Grandstand Station and then catch the bus from there. Likewise when returning from the parks the exit at Grandstand and wait for their internal bus.

We were just at SSR in July and had almost no problems with the buses. We stayed at the Grandstand and always had a seat. We never waited for more than 15 mintues with most waits being on 5. There was one problem on the night we went back to MK. The bus came to SSR from MK packed and hardly any one got off at the Grandstand. We were able to get on the bus but noticed that when we got to Congress Park there were people asking if this is where they get off for DTD. When they were told yes about 15 people got up and exited.... I would bet to believe they parked at DTD and took the bus to the park to avoid the parking $.

We have stayed at GrandStand 1x and Congress Park 6x and never had long waits or issues with the bus

I keep reading these posts and am shocked personally. Maybe we are lucky, pick good times to use the service, or lucky?

We have not had any problems with the buses at SSR. They are still running a shuttle from THV over to the main SSR property.

I think all bus situations at any Disney resort is luck and timing.
