Hello Dining Gurus!

I'm looking for some advice regarding a dining plans for a day we will be spending in MK. We have a 2:00 Pirates League reservations and a 6:45 Pirates & Pals cruise, but other than that the day is wide open. Obviously we won't have time to go back to the resort between PL and the cruise, so I'm looking for some suggestions as to where we might have dinner. We'll be on the dining plan, but I'd like to keep it to a 1-credit TS if possible. We're game to travel a bit, but since the times will be tight we'd prefer something relatively close. Also, no characters please - this will just be a meal as mommy and daddy will have had enough of characters by the time that day is through. :lmao:

So, what restaurant(s) would you suggest we try, and what time would you shoot for? One of the problems I ran into was that many TS locations don't open until 5:00 or even 5:30, and I think that is too late given we need to be at the Contemporary by about 6:30. So help me out here with your suggestions please!

My favorite restaurants in the Magic Kingdom area are Liberty Tree Tavern, Ohana, and Kona Cafe.

Thank you PirateKate! I actually just booked LTT for 4:30 - thank you for the suggestion. I figure that should give us plenty of time to eat and get to the Contempo, even if they are running behind for seating folks. While Ohana and Kona look neat, when I checked the menus I wasn't as sure about the food appealing to everyone in the family. So we'll be trying LTT, I think!

I was going to say LTT, but since you have to be at the CR, why not eat at The Wave restaurant?
It is 1 TS and no characters, not to mention already at the resort you need to be at.

It is a win win situation.

Thank you - I'll take a peek at the menu and see if it looks promising. I didn't even think of that place! I looked into California Grill, but they didn't open early enough to be assured of being done by the time we need to be at the P&P cruise. Not to mention I didn't want to drop 2TS on it!

My 6 year old son and I enjoyed Liberty Tree Tavern as well as The Plaza at MK. Liberty Tree Tavern is served family style and the food was delicious but very filling, whereas the Plaza Restaurant is more sandwich type food with fabulous shakes and sundaes. We loved both, but I must say it was a welcome change having a lighter supper especially if you plan to then board a boat.
