Need some help and good advice on DL and what to do?

I need some advice on what to do here. See, last summer I was supposed to go to WDW in August during their free dining plan and had the trip half paid for and airfare already bought. To make a long story short, we had to cancel a month before we were to go and couldn't get a refund on the airfare, just a voucher that has to be used by April 13th 2007. I'm going under the knife for hip replacement surgery in a couple of weeks so I won't be able to travel until April.

I got a great deal on a room at the Polynesian for this summer 07 (Tikifest) and already booked it. So going to WDW in April 07 and then again in July seems like a waste, IMO. So the thought of going to DL has entered my mind and the only time we could go would be in April and right before our vouchers are set to expire. How's it going to be at DL in the first week of April? Will the crowds be insane and will the major rides be up and running? I read Miceage, Mouseinfo.com, and Mouseplanet everyday, so I'm kind of familiar with what's going on, but I would like some first hand advice from you who go there regularly. I'm looking at arriving April 4th and leaving April 8th, so I will really only have 3 days to enjoy the parks.

I found reasonable rates at either the HOJO or the Candycane Inn and I'm kind of preferring the CCI at this moment. I would love to stay at the GC or the DLH, but my budget tells me I have to stay off site. I have been wanting to go to DL for sometime and even planned it twice, but then ended up going to WDW instead. I think this would be a perfect time to finally see DL and how's the weather in the first part of April? I'm kind of worried about the crowds, but at this stage of the game it's either go at that time or waste the airfare.

Any good ideas or suggestions would be most helpful and appreciated.

In a nutshell- it will be warm, but not hot. You would want to dress in layers and plan a jacket for the evening hours. Splash mt, Tom Sawyer Island will both be closed. Pirates maybe as well. Fantasmic will not be running.

Crowds- it will be spring break, and the 8th is Easter- so I would guess pretty busy.

The candy cane is great. I stayed there on my last two visits and am staying again at the end of April.

No Pirates as well as no Splash Mountain? It just goes to show that if it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. I've always wanted to see the diference between DL's POTC and WDW version. Same with the Haunted Mansion. I'm sorry to hear that many rides are down.. I didn't even think about Easter being on the 8th and I'm glad you reminded me about that. I have no idea what to do now and how to use this airfare up in affordable style family vacation.

No one is 100% sure that Pirates will be down. Its speculation at this point. Its rumoured that it will be getting more overlay for the 3rd movie. But, Disney had not announced any firm plans. Which means only one ride is down for sure- splash (and Tom Sawyer island, but that is not a ride). Thats really not bad for the off season.
