Well, I finally booked our flights to Hawaii -- after checking both kids' schedules, June 30th through July 8th was the best week for everyone. We fly overnight (1st class!) June 30th so we'll be checking into Aulani on July 1st, really early since our flight lands at 5am.
Now for the advice part -- it appears that most of the 2 bedrooms have limited availability on July 4th (it would have to be on a weekend this year) except for ocean view. Since we are really spoiled by the DVC accomodations, we would really like a 2 bedroom villa. We have enough points to get the island/pool view for most nights with a 2 bedroom ocean view for July 4th, but that would mean we could end up changing rooms a couple of times. I'd book an island view for July 1st - 3rd, switch to an ocean view for the 4th, then back to an island view for the 6th and 7th (we have another overnight flight to come home).
I believe that I would have to make each of those reservations separately, is that correct? Or could I call member services on Dec. 1st and get all of that reserved at one time? If I can't do it all at one time, would I be better off reserving a one bedroom for the entire stay just to be sure I have something and later switching to the two bedrooms when my complete trip is within the booking window? I'm planning on waitlisting the one day that I would have the ocean view with the hope that eventually I would have one single room type for the entire stay and could get the reservations combined so that I wouldn't have to keep changing rooms.
