Remy (11) is REALLY into reading these days and I plan on buying her some books for C'mas...but I need some ideas lol. She loves Twilight and I do plan on getting her that set..can anyone recommend any similar books of this nature. I also bought the Generation Dead/Kiss of Life set by Daniel Waters for her. I know she is also into those preteen romance novels..

TIA for any suggestions!

You could try the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. City of Bones, City of Ashes, and City of Glass. There is no smut in them, there is some mild suggestive ideas, but the romance never goes beyond kissing.

Another good series is by Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, with another one due to be released next year.

You could look them both up on wikipedia if you want to get a better idea of what they are about, but both series are very popular right now.

How about some authors:

Madeline L'Engle
Lloyd Alexander
John Bellairs
Roal Dahl
J. K. Rowling (okay, she's probably already read these, but...)
Walter Farley
Laura Ingalls Wilder
C.S. Lewis

Pretty much anything these age appropriate authors have written is good. I would also suggest these for an 11 year old, although others might not, for various reasons:

Neil Gaiman (Coraline, Stardust, The Graveyard Book)
Orson Scott Card (Ender's Game)
Ellen Raskin (The Westing Game)
Norton Juster (The Phantom Tollbooth)
Phillip Pullman (the Golden Compass series)
J.R.R. Tolkien (the Lord of the Rings)

As far as similar books, there is the Vladimir Tod series written by Heather Brewer. Currently there are three books in that series, first one is Eighth Grade Bites. We also like a series of books by Cinda Chima, another trilogy. The first one is called The Warrior Heir, then The Wizard Heir, and finally The Dragon Heir.

There is a book that retells the Beauty and The Beast story, set in modern New York. the main characters are teens- I read it and it's pretty good. The author is Alex Flinn, and the book is called Beastly. Flinn also wrote a modernization of Sleeping Beauty called A Kiss in Time. I haven't read that one, but it sounds good.

The Vampire Diaries series by L.J. Smith is good, too.

Oh gotta get her the Fire Ice set. Chris D'Lancy

Wow, my dd just finished the 4th The Fire Eternal and I was picking it up.
Sooooo many story lines but hugly great!!! Dragons come alive, the polor ice cap was affected.
The characters are some part human and part sybil I think they call them. The Father was a human and mother a part human and dragon princess.

The advice giving polor bear, or guide. A secret room of Fairies,
I did not read the report, just some pages as she was so into it.

Now the book 5 is being completed, or out in England.
Oh, my dd is now 14 she started reading them 2 years ago...

My DD 11 has read the Twilght books over and over again--another series she is reading is "The Vampire Diaries" by L.J. Smith. It was written years before the Twilight series and is now a show on TV. Each book has two "stories/books" within it and I think there are three actual books, making six stories/books. She likes them quite a bit just not as much as Twilight (I have to agree with her on this)
She constantly returns to the Twilight series though, this is like her 5th time reading the entire set!! Crazy, but at least she's reading!
