Need some advice, trying to rent points

I've rented once before. We stayed during an easter vacation and everything went very smoothly.

I'm looking to try and rent for an (details removed) but I've noticed that the rent/trade board is just for listings? Has this changed? I thought you used to be able to post "wanted" type posts? I also notice that there are little to no listings for the number of points that I need.

Can anyone provide any advice on how I should go about trying to rent points. Should I just keep watching the rent/trade board looking for the points I need and contact immediately? Any other ideas?

Any help is appreciated.

The rule has changed over on the rent/trade forum. I kind of liked being able to see who wanted points prior to me posting, when I actually had points to rent. I believe the only thing you could do is monitor the forums for anyone that has a large quantity of points....there is also the new sponsor, DVD Dave or something like that he may be able to help. Good luck

I would suggest posting your request in as many "Points for Rent" threads as possible. If there are no members with the number of points you need to rent, you can rent from multiple members and DVC can link them together. That would take a little more work, but may be worth the effort if you feel DVCrequest.com is more than you want to pay.

Good luck!

Thanks for the pointer. With the (details removed) points I'm trying to get, DVCReq will cut my potential savings in half. I did not know I could combine points from multiple sources to create a reservation. I would suppose that one member would have to "transfer" points to another user who would make the reservation? Sounds tricky.

Yes, they have also made it that you have to have 50 post before you can post to rent out your points:guilty:

See if you can contact the dvc owner who you rented from last time. They may have the points you need. :goodvibes

If multiple members each had points enough for one night, each could book one night (or more) for you and link them together. otherwise, yes they would have to do a transfer and keep in mind a DVC member can only do one transfer per calendar year.

Davids DVC Rental club wants 13/point + 65.00 processing fee.

I don't think that is quite correct. The $65 deposit would be applied to the reservation once it is made or refunded if nothing is available. It is not in addition to the cost of the reservation itself.

Trying to arrange a transfer between 2 members would be very tricky and not likely to happen without a LOT of legwork. If (and even this will be challenging) you need to work with multiple members, MS can link all of the reservations together for the stay. If that is the plan of action, I'd get working on it ASAP since it will become more and more difficult as time goes on.

There are certainly members with a lot of points available for rental but you might have to wait awhile for them to make that offer. Most recognize only a few months before the end of their Use Year that will have some extra points and post their offer to rent at that time. For a large reservation, there might be some economy in working with a service like dvcrequest.com since they will do all of the legwork for you. Certainly it might be a little more costly than if you do it yourself, but it will certainly be an easier task and can probably be completed tomorrow depeding on when you wish to travel.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the valuable information. I see how multiple owners and point transfers can be tricky. I was sucessful in making a 436 point reservation this weekend with a single owner at 11/pp.
