Need some advice about Jacksonville

For our upcoming trip in June, it looks like we will be arriving in Jacksonville around 5:30 on a Friday afternoon. We will be driving from SC and plan to go all the way to Orlando that evening. My fear is the traffic at that time. I am OK with traffic but would like to minimize it as much as possible. One option is since that is around dinner time, maybe stop and eat and let traffic dissipate some. Another option is the beltline around Jacksonville and this is where my question comes from. Is it better to take the beltline for less traffic and if so, which direction is best?

Take the 295 around Jacksonville.

95 backs up something fierce from about 3:30 till 7ish

Best bet is to go east on 295. IMO, that keeps you closer to 95.

Thanks for the reply, that is what I was thinking. However, last night our plans changed again and we are now leaving on Thursday late afternoon, so we will be getting to Jacksonville about 7-8 pm, so I guess we will be fine to go on through on 95.
