Something I could get at Walmart, target, etc. Anyone have any luck with the less expensive brands. DH is a vacuum murderer. :headache:

We like the Sears and have always had luck with them. Price range from low to high. We stay in the middle and have never had any problems. Good luck.

Thanks, we've had a couple of sear's vacs over the years but the nearest store is about 45 min away from me. I may have to make a trip but I figured if i could get a decent one for now from Walmart I could wait. Idk though, it may be a waste of money. Really need to hear from someone who's bought a cheapo one they like!

The last time I had to buy a vacuum cleaner, I had to go mega cheap - I burnt up the motor in the old one and really needed to vacuum. So I went to Walmart and bought this:

That was right after Christmas (thus the reason why I couldn't afford a more expensive one! :) ). I have been surprised by how well it works. It is really great at picking up dog hair. The thing is, you have to keep it cleaned out. At least every other time I use it (every time if I'm doing the whole house) I empty the cup and clean all the filters. Dirty filter are the death of a vacuum (see above where I burnt up the motor!). I was planning to use this until I could buy a better vacuum, but now I'm just going to keep using it until it falls over!:thumbsup2

Eureka Boss. The best vacuum I have ever had. I have one for downstairs and one for upstairs. Sold at Walmart.

I absolutely love the Shark Rechargeable Sweepers. Have been using them for years. They pick up so much and I love being able to empty the collection tray every time to see what I've managed to vacuum up!

i got my bissel at big lots as "remanufactured" for $40. it works great, is bagless and has a really great extension which i like for getting under things. my mother also got a shark there as the same kind of deal and still has it years later, its good for quick cleanups and small areas.
