A friend and I are going to Cedar Point for a girls only day of coaster riding - yeah  We need to stay one night and we are looking for a good (and preferably somewhat cheap) place to stay for one night. We definately want to stay fairly close to the park as we be the last ones out of the park and exhausted from riding all the coasters all day. Ammenities such as a pool aren't required but a free breakfast would be a nice perk :teeth:

Anyone have any suggestions???

The hotels on Cedar Point Property are kind of expensive (hotel breakers and breakers express) but you can always check on cedarpoint.com for Coupons for discounts on tickets and hotels.

We go about 10-15 times a year and stay at the Howard Johnsons right at the end of the Causeway leading to the Point. Its about 5mins max driving time to park at cedar point. Another BEAUTIFUL hotel is the Radisson which is also on the causeway (TGI fridays is attached to it). Holiday Inn Expres is also a nice hotel (located at Interstate 250 exit of Route 2) and they offer a decent continetal breakfast. Do a search on Hotels.com for hotels in Sandusky, Oh. All of the hotels are not going to be spectacular as that is not what they are there for, but when you are only sleeping there for a few hours at night, what more can you ask for.

Do check hotels.com or a suitable site for available hotels as they do book up VERY FAST and unexpectedly.

I think the Radisson is now owned by Cedar Point and now called Castaway Bay or something like that. It has a nice indoor waterpark. I think the Breakers Express is still affordable and very close to the park. It's like their version of All Stars. Not sure about the breakfast, eat light though since you'll be riding Magnum, Millenium and Top Thrill! Have fun!

We have always gotten a good rate at Breakers Express with Cedar Points coupon book. You can sign up for it online at cedarpoint.com I believe they do have a continental breakfast or at least a place to buy a light breakfast. If you do decide on the Breakers Express book ASAP, I tried over a month ago to get into the campground in mid June and it was full! Have a great time (like I even need to say that!).

I also say Breakers Express for a cheapie (but good) hotel. The Howard Johnsons was a DUMP and DIRTY when we stayed there two years ago and I would not recommend it to anyone. Thank god we only stayed one night -- I it was so dirty, I left my socks on to walk around and they ended up blackish on the bottom.

We have season passes at Cedar point every year. I would recommend the breakers express. Very reasonable, and very clean, and very close to the park. They didn't offer a free breakfast. There is a McDonalds almost across the street from it. Ho Jos was a dump last time we stayed there and so are quite a few others. Most of your typically reasonably priced hotels in other locations are just outrageous :earseek: up there. We've also stayed at the Ramada which was dirty :sad1: The Redroof wasn't bad. It was clean and we did get a good rate with the entertainment book. But it was a good 20 minute drive to the park. We weren't very impressed with the Holiday Inn either. Not too clean and we paid $150 a night last year. :sad2: If you have any questions about hotels, PM me. Like I said we have season passes up there and go 4-5 times a year and we have been doing it for the last 10 years. I hope this has helped! ;)

Thanks for all the replies. We actually got a pretty good deal at the Breakers Express. We got 2 nights stay (Thur & Fri), 2 ride all day passes, 2 starlight passes (good after 5pm), a parking pass for the parks for our entire stay, buy one get one free coupons for the water park, 10% of coupon for some restaurants, and free breakfast both mornings all for $259 :cool1: :cool1:

We thought it was a great deal! The tickets would be over $80 for each of us even after discounts. Parking is $9 a day :sad2: So we were able to add another night at the park and in a decent hotel for only about $30 more than we were originally looking at for one night at a hotel and one day at the park :cheer2:

I don't think my husband was too excited to hear that I would be gone for an additional night but oh well ;)
