Need recipe for Candy Apples..

Hi! I'm hoping to make "Snow White's Poison Apples" for my dd's birthday party, but I don't have a clue how to make a candy apple! One of my friends said that hers don't turn out the best, so I'm wondering if there is a secret recipe or trick that I should know!

Any hints welcome!!

I found several recipes on the 'net, but I would like a 'tried and true' recipe that someone is happy with!

I have used the candy apple box mix that you buy in the grocery store. As a rule they may not turn out if the weather is humid on the day you make them.
