Some friends of ours are making their very first trip to WDW in a couple of weeks and I am looking to get them a little WDW care package...I just don't know what to give them! They have two boys...the oldest is 9, the little one is 4....I will be headed to a Disney Store next week, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated (we have no kids, so kid "must-haves" for WDW are kinda foreign to me :flower: )

Huge fat pens are great for getting autographs from the characters. They are around $5 in the park/resort gift shops. Somethng to get autographs in if they plan to collect them, again, about $8 at the parks/hotels. We try to take ponchos, usually the disposible ones from the Dollar store, but someone posted very recently that Target had Disney ones for <$4 each. The last time I was in the Dollar Tree they had assorted Disney snacks/cookies. I'd try to pack them a goodie bag (for parents as well as kids) with assorted snacks, they are really pricy at the resorts. Things like magazines/word finds are good to keep kids occupied as well. At the Disney store they have these shrink wrapped wash cloths that expand when you place them in water. There is also a stand of what I refer to as expensive "junk" at the Disney store, pens, keychains, etc. What you might want to do is ask/call your local Disney store and see if they have disney dollars. You can purchase these for the boys and they can use them at the parks and resort gift shops.

my BIL & his family took their first Disney trip in July- they are from Canada. So upon their arrival there was a box that I sent as their carepackage. It had $10 )(US $ :goodvibes ) for my neice 10 & nephew (7). It had a Journal for each of them with DIsney word searches, puzzles and coloring pages that I printed off of mousesavers. I also printed off the info on Hidden Mickeys, Free/cheap things to do at Disney, lists of where to find CHaracters for the parents. I also found a Canadien website devoted to Disney which had -in French- info on each park- I printed that as well. I included Disney coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, and a character pen each kid. Playing cards. and travel games. Also from Dollar tree- Mickey cookies/snacks, and fruit snacks. I added a beach ball and some diving toys, water guns(one for BIL, too!) sun screen, OFF, and a plastic beach bag. Sunglasses and ponchos -most of the above came from the Dollar store - I think I spent $25 total -plus the $20 I gave the kids. But it was a big hit. We also live in Tampa so we met up w/ them and went to Seaworld and a waterpark. Next time relatives come in the summer we will be limiting ourselves to only waterparks- the reg parks are not worth fighting crowds in the heat when I can go comfortable, at my leisure in the winter/value seasons!

Last year we went on a trip with family and friends and I scheduled an "enchanted call" for each of the households the morning of the trip. The kids loved them!!
You can choose the character that you want to have call (usually Mickey or a princess) .. and the theme of the message. They even have a "you're going on a trip" theme. Then at a prescheduled time, they call the house and "talk" to the child. It is only $2.49 per call and is a lot of bang for the buck!!

This year we have a trip planned Dec 2nd - 7th that the kids (3 & 5) don't know about. We are using the enchanted call to break the news the morning of the trip! I can't wait to see their faces!!

Hope that helps!

PS I also highly recommend the Disney Dollars. The kids love to have something that they can spend in the park on whatever they want!

How do I find out more info about this "Enchanted Call?" How do you arrange it?

I also agree about the Disney Dollars. The kids will love them and love having their own money to spend while there. :sunny:

Target has decks of Mickey Mouse playing cards.

I gave my kids disposable cameras the last time we went. I will definetely do this again. They loved them. The Target near me has Disney princess disposables for about $6.00..but this won't help you if these are boys you're shopping for. Someone must sell disposable Disney cameras for boys.

The Disney store had little Disney stuffed animals...I usually see them 2 for $10.00.

Michael's Crafts has a lot of Disney stickers.

I hope this helps.

I just got back from Walmart and they have disney pens.. very cute.. for only a 1.00 these were as you check out... even had princess.. mickey, and even woody.. ton of different ones!

What are hidden Mickeys and where do you find the list of them. Also where do you find the other lists of free things and where to find the characters.
Thanks
michele
