I don't even know where to start but I am asking for prayers, pixie dust and any happy thoughts you can send my way for my best friend of 25 years, Jill.
Jill's father was diagnosed with bladder cancer about 3 1/2 years ago. He had surgery to remove his bladder & had a neo-bladder made from his intestines in lieu of a catheter. He was doing well and thriving up until last fall when he found out the cancer was back and not operable. Despite almost weekly chemo treatments since then, the cancer has spread to his liver and lymph nodes in his back.
Last week he was told he has only months left to live. He is starting radiation to buy some more time and help alleviate the back pain, but basically, he is dying.
Jill's only brother is the proud new Daddy to Sarah - who was born on Sunday night. This is the family's first granddaughter. Sarah stopped breathing last night while in the nursery at the hospital and has had several episodes since then where she stops breathing. They are still working to determine the cause of this, but at this point think she has a small amount of blood around her brain from the delivery. They are unsure of what damage has been done, because they don't know how long Sarah went without breathing.
To further complicate matters, Jill is supposed to be having a large wedding August 21st in downtown Chicago but at this point doesn't even care about the wedding. Well she does, but is keeping things in perspective since her family seems to be faced with continuous challenges and they are all living life moment by moment....literally.
My friend Jill is strong, and her Mom, Dad and brother have tremendous amounts of faith in Jesus Christ, but I am so scared for them and feel so helpless. She knows she can call me day or night but I wish I could do more. She is driving up from Chicago every few days to help out and seems to be here in Milwaukee more than she's at home lately. She's trying not to burn herself out, because she knows things with her Dad are only going to get worse before they get better.
If you have a moment, please say a prayer for her family or think happy thoughts for them. It's just an unfair amount of grief and drama for any family to be hit with all at once.
